just for my router

where to buy from ?

i can buy inverters which are like 1500w but thats a bit big for just my router

i dont want to spend more than 1.5k for this

For you router, using an inverter is a major loss, because it is DC -> [inverter] AC -> [router adapter] DC -> router...

Inverters are nit very effective, I have read one these forums I believe of people running their router straight from the battery, with voltage regulators and such or power suply circuits.

Sure you will find allot of circuits online...

Also, with the slow switching times of inverters your router will reset every time the power switches. A decent APC UPS in the R1.5k range will keep your router up and running for 8+ hours.

APC Back-ups RS BR1100Ci , line interactive with AVR+power conditioning , 1.1KVA , RJ-11 modem/fax protection , with cooling fan - No software + interface

Goes for around R1.7k if you get it straight from a distributor.

i have a 1.5 ups but the problem is if it does not have a load, when power goes out the ups switches off :(

no it has something to do with no load then it switches off

although even with my router my hub a 22" inch lcd and a portable phone its still switching off

im going to charge it full today, if its still doing it rectum must replace it

I'm assuming it's not an APC.

When it comes to UPS's, there's only one brand in my mind, A P C

We've sold hundreds of them and they never fail, where as any other brand we've tried has always given issues. I rather pay the bit extra for an APC and know it's not going to give me any problems.

Yes, R1.7k including VAT, may be a bit cheaper in CPT. Retail would be around R2k.

Yes they do, but they get it from Tarsus. Doesn't really matter though because their prices are only slightly more expensive.

quik i have just ordered this ups man

can u tell me because i just phoned apc and the lady a spoke to was such a moron, will this ups turn off if there is minimal load, like just a router?

The only way an APC UPS turns off is if you turn it off. Doesn't matter the load, it'll stay on.

Unless you overload it obviously ;)
