Is there anyone banking at Investec and can you please share your experience. I am currently at FNB and I am looking to move largely because it seems that Investec has better financial products for my needs.

However I just want some information on how Investec is as a "daily bank"?

Investec is great service wise but also pretty expensive unless you actual need all the features.

I'm a FNB client and can't see myself going anywhere else, service is great, products are great and fees are reasonable compared to all the other banks, so I might be a bit biased. But I've heard from Investec clients they are very expensive, but if you start using ALL of the available features it's a bit more reasonable but still quite expensive compared to other offerings. They haven't complained about any of the "daily activities" though except for the occasional "where do people go if they want to make a physical deposit into my account".

My step-dad banks with Investec, and I don't like them. His card gets declined for just about any online purchase, and you need to phone Investec and tell them that it's not fraud. Their online banking is rubbish compared to the mainstream banks too.

Been with Investec for 15 years.Couldn't be happier.Would definitely recommend them.

Bs! Maybe tell your dad to stay clear of the porn sites. I've been with Investec for years without any issues. There service is far better than any other bank's - and I've been with Absa, Fnb and Nedbank.

Their online banking been better than any of the above-mentioned banks - I still use Absa regularly enough and I much prefer Investec. Their telephone banking is in a class of its own and once you have a relationship with your personal banker - things like loans, home loans and vehicle finance can pretty much be arranged telephonically. If there is paperwork involved, they'll come to you.

And I've never had anything declined on my credit card! A mate of mine went overseas and when he bought his ticket, it was flagged. They called him to confirm when he was going over to know that he would be transacting overseas, and even offered to drop off his forex and travel insurance documents.

Oh, and my best experience with them - 4 years ago, we had our first born. On the Friday afternoon, a bloody Absa ATM swallowed my card. I called Investec in a panic, as I needed to pick-up my family from the hospital the next day. They managed to get me a new card on a Saturday in less than 24 hours and sent a driver with R5000 in cash from my account, in case I had some expenses at the hospital and the courier didn't make it in time. That's service!

I am very happy with investec. I love that fact that I only need to ask where the closest ATM is not where a specific ATM is. The rates I got from them were always very competitive and I have had 2 car loans with them and 1 bond. All were easy to sort out.

The wealth and investment platform is also great for my needs and easy to use. Only catch is their monthly fee is pretty steep if you just need a basic bank.

Only negative is that their credit card reflects real time in your current account ( it makes use of an overdraft facility , you still get your interest free portion on sales purchases ). I prefer to see my actual bank balance and my credit card value ( but that is me ). SO I use another credit card provider.

I moved a few years back from FNB when I consolidated all my bonds, accounts etc. So far, so good but has not been earth shattering but I have yet to fully utilize all their services. Whereas their monthly costs are relatively high, this is all negated by not having any monthly fee for the bonds that I have with them (unlike all the previous banks) , the savings which pays this monthly fee's

Oh - their credit card is prime less 1 which I utilise fully
