Advice on where to invest R100K for the best returns, fairly conservatively due to the investor's advanced age.

All eggs are currently in the Discovery basket. Would like to diversify.

Coronation, Sygnia, Allan Gray, etc. Pick one, they're all much the same I reckon.

Free bank account with free EFT's and DO's. Cash withdrawal at R9 per R1k. Cheapest bank account around.
That seems like an obvious choice then. Discovery offers just over 5% if invested for a year, probably because of fees for fund management.

If you are going to invest conservatively, you must be prepared for lower than average performance in the single digits. Central banks will be trying their best to prevent interest rates from climbing and inflation going up, because this could crash the property market when people can't afford their mortgages.

If you have an appetite for a little more risk, consider an ETF in an industry which should be insulated against a stock market crash (which is seeming increasingly likely). Stuff like electric vehicles, rare earth metals, specifically clean energy considering the momentum "the great Reset" is trying to gather.

Do NOT buy Crypto with money you cannot afford to lose.
