I was one of those unlucky ones that ended up with a useless Financial Advisor. I didn't loose out but didn't gain as much as I could have.

1 - Satrix
2 - Allan Gray
3 - Coronation
4 - Property portfolio in a mutual fund
5 - Kruger Rands
6 - Cash on hand in deposit account

If this makes sense, I'll suggest proportions

I do not like RAs

So far I'm considering 1 and 3, didn't even consider 4 and 5, with regards to 6 don't need the cash on hand, would rather have the money slaving away. RA's will not make my list. What ratios would you suggest?

Kruger rands is somethin I've been thinking about in case the Rand goes the way of the Zim dollar.

Can anyone give more info? Like where to buy? Where to sell? Is it worth it?

Interesting thread, all i can say is i have been putting what little money i have laying around into the satrix ETF. Will most likely try open an account on monday, just need to get my FICA documents up to date, need ID, Address, and bank details!

... buy SA retail bonds. 7.5% interest, no fees, no comissions.

After tax you earn 4.5%, much lower than inflation.

Rather invest in your bond and earn a minimum of 8.5% after tax.

Also, you are aware that Satrix 40 is close to an all-time peak ?

I have a kruger rand, bought from FNB (awesome service :D ). It's come up in value quite nicely now, and am looking to add another larger denomination soon.

Won't touch SATRIX yet...nor bonds (interest rate is too low).

Largely I am playing with EFTs/shares/kruger rands. Still quite novice but learning as I go.

Arcelor Mittal/telkom/Old mutual are relevatively cheap shares, and looking good for upside growth (from my limited knowledge).

Satrix 40 60%
Allan Gray or Coronation 10%
Property mutual fund 15%
Kruger Rands (S A Gold Coin Exchange) 15%
