Hi there. Have been without Internet since 30 April. Vumatel fibre line with Telkom as ISP.

Despite numerous followups still no resolution. Managed to contact Vuamtel who tell me the lease has expired on my IP address/router.

Have decided to cancel service with Telkom due to their lack of customer support. Will this effect my migration to another ISP using the Vumatel line?

What exactly does lease expired mean?

Vuma’s backend system marks a lease as expired for some reason every now and again. When this happens, your router isn’t allocated a DHCP address by Vuma. The fix is very easy and just involves releasing the offending IP and allocating a new one. Definitely not a two week affair.

Telkom will need to release your line before you can migrate, but besides that, migrations on trenched are (usually) quick and seamless.

"Usually" and Telkom in a sentence ....
Thank you for the explanation. At least I know now that the lease expired issue should not hold up moving to a different ISP.
