Hi

I am thinking about getting an IPpbx box like this atcom http://www.atcom.cn/IP02.html

I wanted to retain my analogue lines for incoming calls and route the outgoing calls via a VoIP sip line for call savings.

Questions I have.

1. Is this easy to setup myself?

2. If I have 2 analogue lines with sip lines can I get more than 2 outgoing calls using the VoIP portion without affecting the incoming calls.

3. I have hunting facility on the 2 analogue lines at the moment. Does this work on the IPpbx?

4. If I have another branch with the same setup can the calls be forwarded to the main branch free as in a hosted pbx setup? How is this activated ...simple phone toggle or complicated (need receptionist to be able to turn this on when needed).

5. Can a hosted pbx setup in one branch integrate with the IPpbx in another?

6. Which VoIP provide can help set this up?

7. Can call recording be done with this IPpbx?

8. Apart from initial hardware cost..is there any disadvantage over full hosted pbx?

9. If Adsl is down, can outgoing calls be then routed via the analogue lines.

Sorry for so many questions.
Thanks in advance.

The Atcom IP0x is actually an Asterisk box designed by Dave Rowe from Rowetel http://www.rowetel.com/blog/?cat=4

It has a GUI so not too hard, you can also get into the back end if you know Asterisk CLI

2. If I have 2 analogue lines with sip lines can I get more than 2 outgoing calls using the VoIP portion without affecting the incoming calls.

Yes

3. I have hunting facility on the 2 analogue lines at the moment. Does this work on the IPpbx?

The hunting is on the Telkom lines and will work the same

4. If I have another branch with the same setup can the calls be forwarded to the main branch free as in a hosted pbx setup? How is this activated ...simple phone toggle or complicated (need receptionist to be able to turn this on when needed).

Yes, as a SIP trunk or IAX2 trunk, can be manual or time based

5. Can a hosted pbx setup in one branch integrate with the IPpbx in another?

Yes all the hosted solutions ive played with can do this

6. Which VoIP provide can help set this up?

www.otelafrica.com can assist you with this

7. Can call recording be done with this IPpbx?

Yes , but you will require storage

8. Apart from initial hardware cost..is there any disadvantage over full hosted pbx?

Yes, from a maintenance and point of failure perspective. In honesty, for small applications hosted rules the roost, i would host it no question. Hosting gives enterprise class PBX functionality to the micro SME

9. If Adsl is down, can outgoing calls be then routed via the analogue lines.

YES

Hope this was of some assistance to you

Hey Paul.

Thanks again. Always good advice from a knowledgable person like yourself.

However I am very disappointed with otel resellers.
I have had 2 resellers that failed to provide me with a quote (the second, brian was referred personally by you)

I have sent Mohammed Patel a PM
about this but he has not responded.

Hi There,
It looks like you have a great answer but let me add on that the support I get from otel is stunning. I use it for IP calls from my residence so not as intense as your requirements and they have given me great support and advice
+1 to otel

Tim

Hello tRoN,

Sincerest apologies for not responding sooner.
Due to time constraints and commitments to the industry bodies as well as a fast growing OTEL, i do not login to MyBB forums as regularly as I would like to.

Paul has asked me to check my PM, to which i will and respond to you right away!

PS. You can always simply visit www.otelafrica.com and strike up a live chat with one of the team members.

Tx!
Mohammad
