Are there any pitfalls or will my iP4 work properly on CellC if I port to them from Vodacom?

Specifically thinking about APN settings, etc.

Dont bother, Iphone does not work on the same spectrum as Cell C run their HSPDA network unless you really want to use Cell C's well known and hated edge service for GSM there is no point ...

I am using my Cell C data sim(5 GB)in my Iphone 4 .It works perfectly and can send sms mms and data without any problems .I always get +-7 Mb when used in phone (while in HSDPA covered area)even got 12 mb/s with dongle once. But its always faster than my 4mb uncapped. If there is no HSDPA coverage will get EDGE ,slow but still can use facebook email etc.So I am very happy and its the best decision I took to port my number from Vodacom to Cellc

Hmm... 2 totally conflicting responses.

@citizensa - did you have to cut your sim or do Cell C provide the micro sim?

I'm just getting really crappy coverage in Durban from Vodacom these days and at least once a day the iPh4 gives me a No Service signal and I have to reboot the phone to get it to pick up signal again. I can't be paying for this kind of service. I definitely won't be considering MTN or Virgin.

I have to cut my sim to microsim as CellC doesn't provide microsim, but it was not difficult ,can take few minutes,I think you will get good speeds in all metro areas just make sure that you ensure HSDPA coverage in areas you mainly use your phone. The main benefit is the money I save now ,I used to spend more than 400 Rand just browse/update news using vodacom now with Cellc there is enough and more left even after watching live news/sports channels. So its very light on my wallet

I have cut a sim to test once before, so I'm not too worried about that. But I just want to make sure that if I do this I won't be disappointed.

I am in Durban, and my Vodacom service has just become unreliable to the point where I get the NO SERVICE message at least once a day, which can only be rectified with a reboot. I don't really use the phone much for data outside of my wifi zone, so voice is the most important thing for me.

Hi
I recently bought an iphone 4 for me and my wife in London. We are both on Virgin Mobile, but I know that they use Cell C for reception etc. My internet and mms are working perfectly, but I am having endless trouble getting my wife's internet to work on her phone. We contacted Virgin's customer service and they helped me to do the settings manually on her phone. Her mms is working fine, but not the internet. It is definetly not the phone because I inserted my sim in her phone and the internet was working fine. Virgin then told me that it might be damage to the sim, so I got a new sim, but still same issues. I do not know what to do. The strange thing is that my internet/mms was working perfectly with my previous phone (Nokia N97) and it kept working fine once I inserted the sim in my iphone, but my wife's internet with previous phones wasn't working. I checked with them if the internet was activated on their side and they said it was. I will appreciate any help/suggestions.

You getting decent speeds? Mind posting a speedtest result? Afaik the iphone4 doesn't support the cellc frequency and you should only be getting EDGE speeds.
