You can use iCloud which i think is built into the os, and locate from any browser. You can locate a mac, iphone, or ipad

you can also take a look at preyproject.org.

That is another popular choice.

How does prey work. I read you can only get 10 reports on the free one, so I presume you can only use it 10 times for reports?

Find My Phone is available for the iPad. It allows you to locate the iPad or iPhone and send it messages - these are displayed on the screen such as "Please return this device, its stolen". You can also do remote wipe and disable, making the device almost useless.

Just install it on the device and it will create an account you can then use to track the device.

A great app but I'm not too sure about the disabling and rendering it useless part.

The wipe is only if you have any sensitive data that you don't want someone to take their time trying to extract out of the iPad, otherwise just do a remote lock and track the device whenever it connects to the internet.
