iPad 3 launch attracts huge crowds

Apple’s new iPad proved to be another hot-seller on Friday, with hundreds queuing at stores across Asia to be the first to get their hands on the 4G-ready tablet computer as the company’s share price hit $600 for the first time...

Funny, if someone gave me one I would give it away.

Closed & proprietary technology is not my scene.

If someone does give you one, can I have dibbs please? I'll jailbreak!

As usual the Apple haters are first to post, insecurity about their own devices?

If someone gave me one I would sell it and buy a Android tablet and a car.

But but... this

If someone gave me one I would sell it and buy a Android tablet and a car.

The iPad is still better quality than the Android :( which pisses me off! If someone gave me one I would keep it.

Makes me wonder where everyone gets money to buy new stuff everytime it releases.

Rather spend the money on new PC/Laptop everytime one comes out

If someone gave me one I'd keep it too - it just works!

That's what I believed once too - until I got one.

Hack, crack, lie, cheat and 3rd party software makes it work, but that's not out the box .... Also helps to have iTunes and a mifi router on hand

Yet you still want to get the iPad 3 instead of an Android... Right.

I like the high resolution screen ... But it doesn't change the fact that it doesn't work out the box. Go look the 'solutions' to using an iPad. The first is nearly always JB

And I'm glad the camera is newer 15 years old too. They're getting to about the mid 2000s with their optical technology ... Which is a actually pretty cool. Once they drop their decade old ports and DVD (that always makes me laugh!) and replace with Blu Ry, they're well on their way to being an (almost) uptodate company!

You want the iPad to be something it's not? It's not or meant to be a replacement for your computer.
You'd be happier with an android, honestly get one of those instead.

I'm correcting him by saying it DOESN'T WORK OUT THE BOX.

Remember, the Apple subsection is your 'club' and you're all welcome to pat yourself on the back for your awesome tablet purchase. Outside of it though, it's the real world. We call a spade a spade

Since iOS 5 it does work out the box? Before that yes you needed a PC with iTunes to get started just like an iPhone or iPod.

I'm not talking about the initial starting it up now, though

I mean if my mom goes and buys an iPad ... pops in a microSIM ... enters everything according the law and legit - she's got a near useless app store, she can't download or update large apps, she can't make it hotspot or share her connection, she can't customise like her husband does to his Samsung, she can't print ...

Basically, she needs to lie and falsify her address - and then use 3rd part websites to get vouchers. Next she needs to download a 3rd party program (JB) to get past the other limits and allow her to use it as she wished - and lastly she should download another 3rd party program to fool her printer into believing Apple authorised it. I'd also reckon she download a calculator to add things up ... and as for the attaching files on email which most battle with? The answer : get a 3rd party client

All I'm saying is it's not *quite* a work out the box solution.

EDIT : No disrespect Aqua - I've said before I probably use my iPad more than most of the big Apple fans here (many hours per day, every single day without fail). But I needed to trawl Google to find out how to make certain things work. Most replies were 'you can't' or 'Jailbreak it'
