Since I've never owned or used an apple device and this thread is a bit premature :p

I ordered the new iPad from FNB - and was wondering if it integrates well with Google Apps, i.e. contacts, calendar, email, documents etc. I rely heavily on these for work - so hopefully it does.

Gmail and calendar support is built into the iOS mail and calendar apps but there is also a google app (web app essentially) that handles most things well - except google drive and google+. They've promised a google drive app for iOS in the future though.

Awesome!

Now I just need my damn device.

My cover from Hong Kong arrived before FNB delivered :p

Works very well with Google Apps. I use it with about 5 Google Apps accounts. You can use the native mail and calendar app but setup an Exchange connection using the IMAP and SMTP settings for your Google Apps account. I also use it to keep all my contacts in sync and backed up to Google Contacts so I dont have any local contacts.

Second method of access is via Safari. The mobile version of Gmail is pretty good. You can also create a shortcut or bookmark to get onto your apps screen so you dont have to open Safari then browse to mail.google.com

Third method is as described by Bwana, you can download the Google app from iTunes and then add your login details.

There's a Gmail app from Google for the iPhone, not sure if they have it for the iPad. Never really bothered to look on the iPad.

Google Docs will also be limited in the amount of editing you can do on Spreadsheets for example.

Google Drive should be released for iOS in the coming weeks.

Using imo for gtalk and the gmail app for mail. It integrates pretty well into the mail application too. Overall I would say that android is still a better communicator, but mainly because of the awesome Google integration.
