I hope someone can help me with this. I'm having trouble pairing my iPad and iPhone via Bluetooth. The iPad discovers other Bluetooth devices, including my neighbour's phone, but not my iPhone, which is practically an inch away. The iPad also fails to connect to the devices it does pick up. Has anyone else had this problem?

Why are you trying to pair them?

Anyway, the iPhone only pairs with devices like keyboards and headsets. It cant pair with pc's and the like.

Iphone doesn't pair with iPad? Meh, that sucks. I'm trying to send pictures from phone to iPad without having to go through iTunes or emailing.

You can't send photo's via Bluetooth from iPhone to iPad?!
What is the iPad Bluetooth used for?

Tether your iphone to your ipad (wifi model)
Wireless input devices (bluetooth keyboards/keypads)
Wireless bluetooth headphones
Connect ipad to bluetooth speakers
Connecting bluetooth gps to ipad (wifi model)

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah, will have to be Dropbox I guess. I just hate that it doesn't sort my pics by date. And I don't feel like paying $25 p/a for iCloud.

How irritating that 2 Apple products won't pair - that's so basic, it shouldn't even be an issue. Ugh!

Icloud is free up to 5 gigs. You are confusing it with iTunes match which costs $25 p/a.

By the way iTunes match is a great deal. It allows you to convert 30 000(if memory serves correct) pirated music tracks to legal tracks.

Thanks - so there is a use at least.

I was under the impression that Blueooth was - and I quote - 'Bluetooth is a proprietary open wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances (using short wavelength radio transmissions in the ISM band from 2400-2480 MHz) from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks (PANs) with high levels of security'

I'm sure I remember back in the day as a teenager sitting at Milky Lane, sending a photo or MP3 to a friends phone.

It just feels we've got backwards seenig as file transfer is excluded from the iOS itself.

Yes, we all do crazy things as teenagers. This is how young girls get into trouble, with boyfriends spreading err, private photos of them to all and sundry.

Today, you'd think twice about letting someone else having that kind of access to your phone. "Oh, while you are looking at the picture, let me BT you this great app I got from Viruses-R-Us". You can always email the picture to your friend. You can twitpic it (what kind of friend is not following your tweets? :D). You can evernote or dropbox it to a public folder. I don't really see this as a major problem.

Well if it was that long ago that you last blue toothed a photo or MP3 isn't it perhaps a redundant feature??

I don't really have an opinion , I have iPad.

What did Steve Jobs decide?

I was indeed confusing icloud and itunes match - didn't realise they were two different things.

I've downloaded pic Transfer - works fine. Thanks all.

If you have icloud installed on your pc go to C:\Users\username\Pictures\Photo Stream\Uploads (win 7 location) and just copy your pictures into that folder.
They will appear on your devices under photostream in the photo's app.
