Hi All

I have had this email problem since acquiring my iPad 2.

I have been unable to send email from my business email address (on my iPad) when connected via wifi to my home, or any other network.
My business service provider is Mweb, and at home, WebAfrica.
A call to WebAfrica support suggested as a work around, I should change the outgoing server to WebAfrica's whilst connected to that account. This worked, but it will be irritating as it has to be changed back and forth when connected to the different accounts. My hope is that some one out there has already solved this and can provide me with a better solution.

Google has not helped thus far. I've read much about changing port numbers and the like.

Anyone?

I think i might know what the problem is but its a long shot.

Go into the settings, then mail, Contacts, Calendars
Select the Account which is not sending mail
click on the account again (in my case it was gmail)
Then on that account screen it says Account Information and toward the bottom Outgoing mail server, Click on that
then it opens another screen called SMTP, then select the primary server
In there just confirm your password, it worked for me in the past

Using peder's way into the settings, you could use a couple of secondary servers, be sure to include smtp.saix.net, smtp.isdsl.co.za and a few other common ones like vodacom (if you have a vodacom 3g unit) or mtn's etc. that way you'll never have to switch and it will work.

Our service provider gave me a password authenticated SMTP address - I can now use it regardless of the ISP, SAIX/IS backbone or 3G network I'm using.

Webafrica does a redirect on home accounts on port 25,so your ideal setup would be smtpauth.mweb.co.za,using port 587,and your mweb business username and password

Thanks for the replies folks.

Peder your solution worked. Many thanks. Saved me much frustration. I should have asked here a long time ago.
