iPad Mini, where does it sit in the Apple tree?

we have a problem now with the ipad mini. My wife has downloaded a few books to the pad and is reading one at the moment and because the graphics are so realistic she has wet her finger a couple of times so she can turn the pages. She is doing things as if she is reading a real paper book and not a book on a ipad, very strange.

LOL - just hope she does not use it to swat a mosquito on the wall!

Allow me to introduce you to my Nexus 7. ;)

It took a while but it eventually proved it's usefulness. ;)

I want to download Bluestacks on the ipad mini so my wife can use the Whatsapp application, will it work because there are two options, Windows and Mac?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isnt Bluestacks an emulator for Windows or OSX so you can run tablet apps on them?

Do you have a mac? This isnt software that will run on a tablet.

FWIW - Whatsapp doesnt work on tablets - only phones.

Thanks man.

No Mac yet but who knows what I might win in the future.

Whatsapp needs to send you a code to use it so what stops a person loading it to a tablet like I did on my pc and using a phone to retrieve the code?

I think you stuck with iMessage for the iPad.. I dont know of any Whatsapp alternatives :(

P.S. Get the app called AppShopper for the iPad - it will show you what apps are free.. sometimes you can pickup some awesome apps/games for FREE!

There is a nice app called oovoo which allows video calling like skype and you can have 3 to 4 people on at once. I tested it with my wife and daughter and it worked but not all of us could be on video at the same time.

I use Flipboard and the Tech and Science section then APPS and I find new apps daily although for the last few days the apps have not changed bt I think it's because of holiday season maybe.

For messaging there is also Facebook - they have a dedicated messenger app - and skype.

I've never understood Whatsapp's refusal to release a tablet version.

I use the Facebook messaging one sometimes and skype very seldom because I have skype on the pc but now it's Facetime. What I am always looking for is a messaging system that can be used across all platforms and not just those where both parties have to be on the same system. We have used Talkonaut which covers various systems and what is so nice about it is that I can use gTalk on my pc when someone was on talkonaut.

Skype and Facetime are two completely different apps.

Yes I know.

With our daughter being that side she would have had to contact us via skype which would have meant we would have to be at our pc and that's where it we would have stayed. Now with ipod 4G and iPad mini all with Facetime on we are able to chat anywhere in the house and not tied down.

Our only pitfall is that these gadgets can only be used in a wi fi environment unless I activate the hotspot feature on the android phone.

But if you loaded skype on to your ipad you could do the same thing, plus communicate to those people on pcs. ;)

I think the misses might have loaded it by now, I will check but I know she had an issue with the pc version because of a password issue so had multiple accounts and all were faulty.
