Hi i need to buy myself somthing for xmas and cant decide which one would be better the iPad or the Macbook Air as they both go for about the same price?

What do you plan to use it for mainly?

Content creation - MacBook Air
Content consumption - iPad

get the macbook air ... i have an ipad but i find having the macbook will be the better option for you

gosh this is so hard i dunno im kinda leaning more towards the ipad i already have a 15inch laptop

Don't buy the iPad now (to be replaced in March 2011 per current speculation). If you want to burn the bucks now go for the Air ... it's very thin and light (like the iPad), but with a keyboard and more powerfull OS.

It is pretty pointless getting another laptop if the one you currently have is decent.

I wouldn't call the Air a laptop. It's not even a netbook. It's so flippen thin and light it's in a class of its own. If the OP were to place it next to his current laptop he'll immediately see why he needs it. The Air is like an iPad with keyboard ... which I like as I type a lot and I prefer not giving away valuable screen space to a soft keyboard. There's a nich for the Air for sure.

Wolfsburg, that's interesting. Why do think so? Reason I ask: I'm thinking of getting an iPad and if I could learn about a limitation from current owner that'd be good.

Best is to test both and then decide. Each has its strenghts and weaknesses and the user must decide what weighs more after using it. One thing I do know is that when one's put one's heart on something it's best to give that desire serious consideration because if the heart is not satisfied it will find fault.

Even a netbook falls under the laptop (a portable computer small enough to use in your lap) umbrella.

You prefer the air because you use it for content creation, like I mentioned in my first post the iPad is geared towards consumption - the OP needs to figure out for himself what role needs fulfilling. :)

Get the iPad, if you don't like it or it doesn't suit you, sell it There is such a huge demand for them at the moment, you will totally get your money back.
