iPad or Samsung Galaxy 10.1

When I had my iPad2 this really ticked me off. There were some apps I couldn't live without and there simply wasn't an Ipad version. But I guess more and more apps are being ported so not a huge deal either.

Sure but so will the iPad be upgraded to iOS 5 - it's not standing still! It's already very easy to develop for both iPad and iPhone. I shall be watching both markets with great interest.

Will be interesting to see if the two markets grow closer together with iOS5. My feeling is that the two systems will remain seperate, ie iPhone apps will be completely different to iPad apps.

The point of Android Icecream Sandwich is that one and the same system will run on both cellphones and tablets. This means you can install one and the same app on either device and the app will automatically adjust its layout (and possibly features) to the difference in resolution etc. I think that this is an absolute brilliant approach. Especially since you log into either device with the same google account and thus don't have to buy apps twice.

Running through my list of apps a large segment seem to be universal apps designed for both the iPhone and iPad.

Anyways, there's no point arguing about the app stores because both are great and are constantly growing and getting better. Neither store should is good enough a reason to choose one device over the other. Rather look at functionality among other things and find out which tablet you may prefer. I own an Android phone and bought myself the iPad2 on launch day. After playing with it for about 2 weeks I sold it again, I really hated the damn thing .

I'm not sure I understand - I install and update all of my apps on my iPad or iPhone.

I have well had an iPad 2(gave it to someone for a bday Pres) and hated the thing with a passion. It would have been OK if I could jailbreak it but I could not, so it limited me to the useless and expensive apps on the store. I still have my old iPad and use it for some games(installious) and some open source apps(XBMC). I also prefer the PC like system on Android like coping mp3 files off a PC and listen to them or being able to plug in a ps3 game controller kicking off Mame and have access to my 3000+ ROMs on my TV using HDMI.

We don't have to wait till then to get it as there are apps on the market already that have different UI's. The main problem I see with Honeycomb is that the emulator sucks for development and you can not debug without a tablet.

Edit: well that is the reason I am telling myself about keeping the iPad... as I havent touched it or had the desire to do so since I got my Asus Eee.

Yeah if you have to pirate everything then obviously iPad 2 is a poor choice. Personally I find the apps extremely cheap. The most expensive one I bought was $10 (~R70) and that was Real Racing 2 - which is almost console quality. Plus I know 70% is going to the developer which is awesome.

Fraud on the other hand, is a criminal matter and the government can take over the case if they feel fit, even just appearing in court over fraud can be a serious matter especially if you work in the security industry also when traveling internationally.

Edit: Agreed not for this thread, but as a developer that is another reason why I say rather go Android as it allows me to market my goods in the way I want to, if I dont want to give someone 30% cut I dont need to I can market my software directly or other markets.

The iPad has the cameras from the iPod touch - basically webcams and not much of a camera. But the photo booth software and other apps are awesome for it.

Ja. I don't care much for the camera on the iPad. It's the apps that allow me to interface with my SLR that has me hooked.
That's where the magic in the ipad lies.

It will be a while before Android pads have the apps/atachments that Apple has.
