Our daughter dropped my wife's iPad and cracked the screen. I've done some searching regarding repairers and iFix seems to pop up a lot but it seems their online reputation is not too great. Thus I turn to you, the ever knowledgeable and learned forumites. Any company you would personally recommend?

We went to the China Mall... :o (the one next to the Old Jhb highway in Centurion).

...was cheaper than the professional shops.

iFix is the best! had my iphone sent in for repair and sorted in late afternoon.

Thanks for the feedback. Are you happy with the quality of repair as well as the replacement materials used?

Nashua Mobile in Greenstone Mall have an on site tech. Dropped the SO's off at 10H00 and collected 17H00 the same day. That was 6 months ago. No issues with the screen they replaced on her iPad 2.

The replacement screen's button doesn't have the same "feel" as the original one - but it works. Overall it looks good. No quibbles there.

Also asked the guy to put a screen protector on - kids tend to scratch the glass!

TBH you can DIY - there's lots of videos on youtube.

I prefer paying a bit extra and get somebody else to do it... :o

I successfully replaced my wife's Motorola screen a few years ago but almost messed up because I started rushing. I'm with you on this one, I'd prefer to have someone else do it.

Used iFix for an iPad I messed up while replacing the glass. Let's just say that doing a screen repair at midnight is stupid. On the plus side, the glass was fixed... although nothing else was :D

They did a great job at sorting it out

not sure where you live, but these guys http://www.gmob.co.za/ , can recommend them, had 2 phones and a ipad done by them, very professional, while you wait service, and they got the ipad spot on, i had one done once at a china mall, and they couldn't get the screen fitted properly, it eventually lifted out, the one by gmobile is still in 3 years down the line!!

Apologies for resurrecting an oldish thread but I thought I'd supply some feedback. I ended up using Apple Doctor based on a recommendation someone sent me via PM. I am very happy with service from start to finish. Same day collection, repair and delivery and the repair job was truly professional. I'll happily recommend this company to others.

Price?

R1200 to replace screen and digitizer. I know there are some slightly cheaper places out there but I encountered mixed reviews on a number of them.

Thanks - seems fairly reasonable. :)
