I have searched for something like this

I see the Galaxytabs Specs are better than the Ipad's

Which is a better choice and why

Both great device and it comes down ti what you personally prefer. I love Android, so i would certainly take the Galaxy. more freedom over the device, flash, its Google, etc.

I suggest playing with both of them and then make the choice.

Android seems to the way of the future. Many more apps are being written for it. But, if you can, it is worth your while 'test-driving' them both.

Yeah, try them both before you make your mind up. It's not JUST about the specs... seriously.

Well depends if you place design higher than function?

iPad applications looks better and are smoother. It normally looks like the developer placed more weight on the UI of an application. Android tends to be more focused on functions than design. This is also true for the tablets themselves, Android has a unified filesystem with Windows networking and is able to use SD cards and USB devices like PS3 controllers, where iPad's uniformed design allows more manufacturers to tailor add-ons, docs and covers for it.

I think the iPad's 2's specs are better than the Galaxy Tab - most people agree the screen on the iPad is better quality, although the Galaxy is slightly bigger. Let's call it even.
As for CPU's - both Dual core, but in my opinion iOS is better optimized than Android and feels faster, again, let's call it even.
The GPU - iPad 2 has a way more powerful GPU.
Apps - iPad by a country mile
Battery life: iPad.

What else?

Cuurently have an Ipad and a Galaxy S phone.
I would say iOS is much better.
But, the fact that iOS is not open, cannot play flash, no usb... is a big downfall, and with andriod catching up from a software side, Apple may regret this.
I would probably buy another ipad but not an iphone as i would want my most portable device to be open.
And no, i dont jail break.

It's not so much about specs, it's more about apps. I've gone the iPad route and am VERY happy with it. Don't go Android just to swim upstream.

I am a big android fan - and if this was a iphone vs the galaxy S I would say go Galaxy S.

But for the bigger brothers I will say go iPad 2 if you can. If it is between iPad 1 and Galaxy Tab then the Galaxy Tab.

I played around with the iPad 2 and the Galaxy tab and even though all the stuff I opened opened a bit faster on the Galaxy Tab the iPad just looks so much nicer. And lets face it, a tablet is all about status, you don't really need it if you have a smart phone and Apple is all about status. And I am sure there will be more iPad accessories than Galaxy Tab accessories, which is a biggie for me.

Not always about swimming upstream. I like the iPad but must honestly say the fact that I can torrent movies on my tablet or plug in my 1TB USB HD into my tablet and play my movies on a TV a much better fit. Hell I can even copy mp3's from any pc I feel like straight into my library or even download them from any online store and play them without the need to use Apple's way of doing things. I dont have to use online services to move a file from one application to another(Unified file System) and yes I HATE iTunes that much.

I guess the fact that I use Google services also play a big role in my selection (Gmail/Picasa/GDocks/Youtube/Google+/Calander to name a few)

I have used both. I liked Android simply because it allowed me to connect to my server at home and browse. A little bit more open than iOS.

You trying to win the iPad there with your double post?

Anyway, my post above I just opened pdfs and stuff so it isn't a really thorough test. But apparently there isn't really much between the two, so play with it a bit and then decide. The reviews I read said the Galaxy is thinner, but it looked really bulky to me when I played with it. Maybe I played with the wrong model. Or maybe it is just the design of the iPad that makes it look slimmer.

Thats exactly what i mean by not being open.
For e.g. i cannot upload a photo on safari as i cannot access the directories...
You can do it with an app that knows how to access...

iOS is getting rid of the filesystem. You can choose photos - there's a photo browser in iOS.

iOS simplifies life for the average user. Power users will always feel a little tense when someone tries to make their playground safe.

Nope it didn't it just took user control away from it. If you Jailbreak its still there as well as access to applications file systems. Steve will tell you he did it so that one application can not interfere with anothers workings but in fact it was done to prevent piracy and to lock you into Apple's Eco system.

I would personally go for the Android device ...

Hardware-wise I think that the current generations of tables are pretty much on par but the Samsung will give you a little more freedom.
Apps are catching up fast ...

Apple may have sold 9 mill ipads but Android is going to be giving them a run for their money soon

Sure the actual filesystem is there, but it's never exposed, it's been abstracted away. The reason is to eliminate complexity. It's really tough to explain to someone who's never used a computer how the file system works.
