I have a router that I am able to access the internet from. I then have a proxy(Ipcop) from which a netowrk cable goes from the router into the proxy and then another cable from the proxy onto the switch.

Something has gone wrong and I am unable to access internet from the proxy anymore, but can directly from the router.

Any suggestions on how to sort this out. How is the link established between ipcop and the router, is it via IP address?

Your router needs to be in bridged mode to allow IPCop to establish a PPPoE connection with your ISP, something has probably gone wrong at the router end, e.g. router has been reset or swapped or something.

Which bridged option do I need to choose. It is a Telkom marconi 4 port router.

Is that all I need to set?

I'm not familiar with the Macaroni router settings, but essentially there should be a Bridged mode option that you need to select to allow IPCop to establish & control the PPPoE connection, just make sure that the router is attached to IPCop's RED NIC and that your LAN switch is attached to IPCop's GREEN NIC.

It is working now, thanks ic, seems it took a few minutes to update.
