iPhone 12 Rumours & Release Date

I also considered the S21 and all its extras but I’ve been down that road before and a few days after owning a S8+, I swopped it for a 7 plus. Also quite invested within the apple ecosystem..
The wait and struggle was definitely worth it as the 12 Pro Max is great, sure the other competitors offer more but apple just simply works the way it should.
Be careful too with samsungs “gift” offerings, you don’t get it straight away and some complain they don’t even receive their buds and/or other promised goodies.

First world problems? Sounds more like bragging about all your devices rather than asking for advice to be honest.

Edit: if you actually want a serious answer, your Apple watch will be useless on the S21. For the MacBook and Apple TV: Doesn't matter if you get the iPhone or Android.
Uhm no. I am genuinely asking a question. Im not full of myself. Just trying to give a bigger picture of what my use case is.
And yes it is first world problems. If its such a big issue you shouldn’t even be replying to this thread

Ja it feels like Samsung tries to sell you on it with all the extra stuff they offer. I have walked into that trap before where a Samsung or Android phone looks all shiny and wonderful. And as soon as I start using it I immediately start missing my iPhone.
Of course Android has some extra features and I like the fact that you can do things like download torrents etc on your phone, but I always go back to my iPhone. Even though it can do “less”

Android does offer a lot more, but in reality it’s all advertised as “cool specs” which the average end user would never even fiddle with. Apple is basic, basic tends to work better.

what are you talking about?
Sorry if I misinterpreted your post. Thought it was directed at me for saying “Uhm” in my previous post.

Just irritated by someone like Toastmaster that doesn’t contribute anything positive to this thread.

No worries man I accept your apology

But I own one of the iPhone 12 variants so I keep an eye on this thread for useful info.

You already mentioned that you're invested in the Apple ecosystem so get an iPhone, unless you plan on selling the apple watch?

I'm considering trading in my XS Max at the iStore for a 12 Pro Max.

iStore is still willing to give R10000 for my XS Max which is more than I can sell it for second hand.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max will then cost R16000 out of pocket.

Would it be worth it?

I am also kinda conflicted because the the S21 also looks like a nice deal with all the extras you get. And for R17500 it is not a lot more than the 12 Pro Max.

I am however invested in the Apple Ecosystem which obviously makes it more difficult. I have an Apple Tv, Watch, iPad and Macbook.

Then I also have a Oneplus 7t Pro as my backup phone which I play around with whenever I get bored of my iPhone. (I struggle to use it as a daily because the cameras arent as good as the iPhones).
That’s why I am also considering the S21 as it has better cameras than the 7T Pro and my current XS Max.

Is your Apple Watch a cellular model? It’s going to be a little bit of a mission running an Android with Apple Watch, they will not “speak” to each other so your experience will be a little jarring.

If you feel that it’s worth leaving the iPhone for the S21, then you’d also need to shop for a non-Apple Smartwatch to. Are you prepared to drop your Apple Watch?

I have been tempted by the S21 Ultra but I know I currently prefer the Apple Ecosystem for my daily usage, but boy oh boy is that S21 Ultra a little machine. Something that I always keep in mind is “am I actually going to use all that the S21 Ultra brings?” And “is it worth the trade-off of jumping out the Apple ecosystem that I am thoroughly enjoying?” If NO then it’s not worth it.

No it is not a cellular version but I do have a Garmin watch to "stand in" for it.

The thing that bothers me about the S21 is that we don't get the Snapdragon chip. I know the Exynos is not that far off this year but it is still unfair to not get the same chip and performance that America does.

It is true that you say about the S21 that it has all the bells and whistles, but will I really use them? I dont think so.

I basically use my phone for social media, calls, emails and messaging. The iPhone does all those things amazingly well and it is much simpler to use. I also find it much more reliable.
The app quality is also much better than on Android.

So ja, you basically gave me the best advice. It wouldnt be worth it to lose out on all the ecosystem benefits just to get something that works against it.

Will the Apple pricing drop by November, I'm due for an upgrade on my Samsung Note 10 that I got at Black Friday 2019.

Currently paying R850 so hoping that's within range of an Apple Pro phone by November 2021.

(the current contract of mine has 15GB of data p/m).

If you go the S21 route you can say goodbye to these type of dilemmas every couple of years as you’ll be struggling to get a decent price on an old Samsung when you want to trade up again.

Yeah that's very true. The XS Max is now 3 years old and still worth R10000. You won't easily find that with an Android device.

Woah!!! Insane.... I did a speed test around Gateway here in Umhlanga, KZN.

Used almost 1.3GB doing the test!! Eish!

How are these 5G speeds... from my iPhone 12 Pro!
