Global chip shortages to hit iPhone 12 production

The higher demand and supply chain constraints caused by the pandemic are causing a global chip shortage that affects pretty much every industry that needs semiconductors. Industry analysts suggest that the automotive industry has taken the biggest hit and the issue will deepen in the consumer electronics market as well. That means Apple's iPhone 12 production could suffer too.

I see there are now graphite and silver iPhone pro’s, 128GB, on takealot.
Does anyone know who fulfills the takealot iPhone orders? Is it Core/myistore or third party sellers?

Edit: Only silver colour left.

Yes - I had to contact them through twitter to get my sim provisioned. Vodacom is lacklustre at best and incompetent at worst.
Let us know if your iphone works on 5G after been provsioned. I doubt it'll work as Apple and Vodacom have yet to update carrier settings. Vodacom's current carrier settings version 45.0 does not enable 5G under network settings unlike MTN carrier settings at version 45.2 which does enable 5G.

Vodacom got approved by Apple in this past week. See; 45.5

First the 5G Vodacom update screwed up my VOLTE, which is still not working after numerous calls to customer care, then this WatchOS update has led to significant overnight battery drain on my iPhone 12 Mini.

Apple needs to sort out their quality control on the software side. There has been a steady decline in that department over the years.

Anybody know when Vodacom is getting more stock.....?

Been waiting for an iphone pro 256g for what seems to be forever.

Looking to upgrade soon from an X to a 12, but is just a little concerned about the 12 not having a telephoto lens like the X/XS/11 Pro/12 Pro.

So for those who have had an X/XS etc and upgraded to an 11/12 (non Pro), was it an adjustment to have lost the telephoto lens, or did it not really matter? I just feel that cellphone cameras still don't have much focal length, so it helps to have a bit of zoom, so to speak.

There is also still a part of me that feels that an 11 Pro would have been a better choice - don't get me wrong, the 12 series look brilliant, but there seems to be more issues with it than with the 11 series, I might be wrong, but I wish I could have found an 11 Pro at a good price. But I suspect stock of it has run out ages ago already. If someone does know of a dealer who has "last of the last of the last" stock of it, please let me know!

Spoke to Vodacom's upgrade department yesterday and the consultant said they have no idea when they would receive stock again
