iPhone 13 discussions

Is there a way to restore my iPhone 13 to IOS 15.7 from 16.03?
Seems like IOS16 chews battery life!

Just wait for the next software update. iOS 16 is brand new, so updates will come in fast. I just upgraded mine to 16.0.3 yesterday. A lot less hassle than trying to run through loopholes just to downgrade to a previous OS.

I switched from an iPhone 12 Pro last week (iStore traded in at 16K)

Damn, never would've thought the difference would be so big between the 2

Got the 13 Pro - 512GB sealed at a steal.

Enjoying the much better battery life and ProMotion

Hoping to keep it until the 16 is launched, but then again that's what I said last year

Sorry about that. Any luck getting it replaced? Did you have to cause a scene?
I always see threads about stuff like this at MacRumours, in the USA it seems pretty normal to return a product for basically any reason and they will exchange, but I’m curious if iStore would as lenient as US retailers.
They said they would have to send it away to get it evaluated by a technician which takes 7 days.
They didn't want to replace it on the spot but assured me it wouldnt affect trade in value as it is so insignificant.

I have also seen some threads from the US and looks like the Apple stores replace it usually without any hassle.

I decided to not send it in as sending it in is more of an inconvenience than the "defect".

I will get used to it. Haha

TBH, that's true of any Apple retail store.
iStore here in SA is full of **** and their service sucks. Don't know why I still support them.

Once had a battle with them over an iPhone 8 which had a camera problem and only took purple pictures.

Was quite a mission to get a replacement out of them as they wantes to repair it instead of replace it.

Ok, cause someone else with battery drain found it was Afrihost LTE causing it.

This one’s an OS issue, users world wide are complaining about it. It’s a bug in 16 that’s been partially solved in 16.1, but compared to 15, battery life is still pretty ****.

But not ALL users are complaining about it, so what exactly is causing it for just SOME users?

No bloody clue, it’s probably why it’s taking so long to fix it, cause it’s across different devices including the new 14.

I’ve gone and nuked all non essential apps, turned off background for so many. Some even said it was keyboard haptics which I turned off with no benefits.

It's not specific to our offering. Any carrier that offers public IP's to their clients will have the same issue. Telkom comes to mind until they enabled nat but if you use the unrestricted APN you will experience the drain also.

Congratulations and enjoy! :D

Just realised it’s been 8 months since I got this 13 Pro Max, anyone else using the 13 series here?

Have to say the battery life has held up well, battery health still at 100% and the phone is almost always sitting around 65-70% by the time I get home from work (incl. having been to gym using it for music as well as playing podcasts in the car on the drive home.)

Honestly I hope these manufacturers workout the battery health thing, each time I pick up this device I feel like I don’t really need anything else, been watching a whole lot of reviews of some recently released devices and realising I’m still very happy with thr 13 PM, I just wish we didn’t have to worry about the battery degrading over time, lol

Had my 13 Pro since December ‘21, and battery just dropped to 96% capacity. Batteries of all phones will degrade. Unfortunately for us, unlike other manufacturers, Apple lets us know it’s happening via Battery Health & Charging, so we’re constantly made aware (if we check, anyway).

I’ve tried to preserve it as best I can (only charge once it goes red, and unplug it when it hits 100%), but only losing 4% capacity in more than a year isn’t bad going, either.

Very true, I personally don’t even bother to keep any sort of charging regiment going, I plug it in even if it’s at 80% if I know I’ll be out the whole day lol, I have come to accept degradation will happen, I’m just hoping at some point with newer battery tech it will be less of an issue e.g. take far more cycles to degrade to 80% for example, I do believe one of the Chinese manufacturers has a phone with a new type of battery that does this but that phone is only available in China, I just need to check which one.

EDIT:
Seems degradation is not well covered in the research I did but a 12% bump in capacity is achieved in the same size battery when it’s Silicon Carbon based, the manufacturer I was thinking of is Hua…Honor. Hopefully Apple use this type to in newer iPhones…

Just checked and mine's at 90% after getting it Xmas 2021. Probably due to all the driving I do. Not particularly bothered.

Mine is still on 100% - bought it in Oct 2022 so relatively new

Never let it go below 25%

Try to charge before it gets in the red, I think that's why yours took such a hit.

That's if you care about maintaining your battery health
