iPhone 13 discussions

Worst case scenario you can always just switch back :D
True. My last iPhone was the 4. I didn't get rid of it because I hated it, but because I wanted to try something different, didn't want to have to jailbreak my next phone to be able to use it as mass storage for music or be forced to use iTunes for everything. Apart from that, it worked flawlessly.

Anything is an improvement from a Samsung

iPhone 13 Pro Max crowned best smartphone display thanks to ProMotion and more

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s new ProMotion display has been granted DisplayMate’s “Best Smartphone Display Award.” This award is based on a combination of lab tests and measurements, which all resulted in the iPhone 13 Pro Max having a “top tier” smartphone display with a performance grade of A+.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because the iPhone 12 Pro Max was the recipient of this same award last year. The iPhone 13 Pro Max’s display is even better, so it’s unsurprising to see it take the crown.

The specifications of the iPhone 13 Pro Max OLED display include ProMotion technology with an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz, HDR, True Tone, Wide color, Haptic Touch, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 1000 nits max brightness (typical), 1200 nits max brightness (HDR), and more. It measures in at 6.7-inches and features a 2778‑by‑1284-pixel resolution at 458 PPI.

Here’s what DisplayMate has to say about the iPhone 13 Pro Max panel after its tests:

Based on our extensive Lab Tests and Measurements the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a Very Impressive Excellent Top Tier World Class Smartphone Display with close to Text Book Perfect Calibration Accuracy and Performance that is Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect. Based on our objective Lab Tests and Measurements the iPhone 13 Pro Max receives a DisplayMate Best Smartphone Display Award earning DisplayMate’s highest ever Display Performance Grade of A+ and setting or matching 12 Smartphone Display Performance Records including 6 that are Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect that are listed above.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max joins the very select Top Tier of Smartphone Displays which all provide Close to Text Book Perfect Calibration Accuracy and Performance that is Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect, so they all received and maintain Concurrent DisplayMate Best Smartphone Display Awards. All are Excellent State-of-the-Art Displays, each is better in some Display Performance Categories, but None are Best in All the Display Performance Categories. Note that measured numerical display performance differences that are Visually Indistinguishable are equivalent.

Android Central seem to love the iPhone 13 Pro Max
Apple is in a dominant position in the mobile SoC category with its in-house silicon, consistently delivering designs that beat its Qualcomm and Exynos rivals in single and multi-core workloads.

That trend continues with the A15 Bionic. While Qualcomm will unveil a new flagship platform later in the year, the A15 Bionic is nearly 40% faster at single-core workloads than the current Snapdragon 888, and it's unlikely Qualcomm will overcome those gains with the Snapdragon 895.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max delivers better battery life than any other phone I've used in 2021.

iPhones have always had an edge over their Android rivals when it comes to video, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max extends that lead.

Overall, the iPhone 13 Pro Max holds its own against the best Android phones — and comes out ahead in a few areas. Combine that with the fact that you get a broader ecosystem of devices that are just as good, and it is a tempting option.

iOS15 just nerfed my iPhone 8 (thanks for nothing, beta testers), so I can’t wait for the 13 range to land.

How so?

My daughters have iPhone 7 and I'm not hearing any complaints....

Touches not being detected, podcasts not playing properly. Only had it for a couple of hours so far so maybe premature judgement.

The 2nd "Bad" option needs to be amended:

iPhone 13 Pro Max supports up to 27W fast charging, the regular Pro goes up to 23W

Even though Apple doesn't advertise it, the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max got an upgraded charging this year. According to ChargerLAB's tests, the iPhone 13 Pro Max can go up to 27W while the standard Pro peaks at 23W.

This means that with appropriate USB Power Delivery charger with at least 30W output, the Pro Max can charge at 27W for a while before temperature constraints lead to throttling. And since the device doesn't ship with a charger at all, Apple is happy to sell you a $50 30W USB PD charger.

The iPhone 13 Pro received some love as well and ChargerLAB says it can get up to 23W - a small increase over the 20W charging from last year's iPhone 12 Pro.

You have probably obviously done this already, but I also had issue where I could not play or delete podcasts.

Yeah, rebooted, and it's a shade better but still having a few touch problems.

Pricing is out on the 13 range, appears to be very similar to the 12 range

Looking at the Pro ranges, pricing is from R21499 up to R32999 (for the 1Tb) on the 13 Pro, and R23699 to R35299 for the Pro Max.

For those interested, check out iStore’s website for pricing on all the different models.

Not too far off but price on the Mini starts from R14999
That's ridiculous, they are using the 128gb upgrade as an excuse to jack up the prices.

It should of stayed the same price as a 64gb iPhone 12 mini.
They didn't increase the price in the US, no reason to increase the price here.
