iPhone 13 discussions

Rumour has it the notch is gone, but you’ll need to pull up a chair ‘cos it’s gonna be a long wait for anything other than a lightning port.

Honestly don’t get the USC-C thing… MagSafe and be done with it.

They removing the damned port before they let EU dictate their design.

Yup.

I think we’ll definitely see a portless iPhone, but we’ll never see a usb-c one.

Can’t recall there source but if I recall correctly, the capability already exists for data transfer over the current implementation of MagSafe, theirs just no software implementation.

Maybe, just maybe we’ll get port-less standard and USBC pros, the pro line of pretty much all their other stuff has it.

But I still feel it’s more likely they’ll take it out just to show the EU they cannot dictate what Apple does.

Problem with the port for most users is charging cable compatibility (my wife has a Samsung, for example, but I’ll never be able to borrow her cable, and vice-versa).

The real limitation, and really what is turning out to be a major gripe, is the data transfer rate of Lightning which is pretty much still USB 2.0. It’s painfully slow in 2022, and a major oversight in devices that are otherwise on top of the tech pile. Not great if you actually make use of ProRes, have filled up your 1TB Pro Max and need to transfer everything in a hurry!

Oldboy is an epic watch!

Apple hired Oldboy's film director to shoot a movie using an iPhone 13 Pro

Apple has been marketing its iPhones' capabilities to shoot professional-grade videos for a couple of generations now and for its latest campaign, the company hired a renowned Korean movie director, Park Chan-wook. For those of you who don't know, that's the man behind the Korean Oldboy movie from 2003.

But Apple's film is a short one, just 20 minutes, and it's called "Life is but a dream". It's a martial arts fantasy film shot entirely on iPhone 13 Pro and it's out on YouTube.

They have really delayed moving iPhone to USB-C for far too long, and they definitely should have moved it over with the introduction of ProRes in the iPhone 13 Pros. They should have added USB-C with Thunderbolt 3 to the iPhone 13 Pro range as they did to the iPad Pro 2021 range.

Ah right of course:

Still no battery percentage?!
It’s a render based on rumours but I doubt Apple will add the percentage because of aesthetics. It’s unsightly. Probably why it wasn’t added with the 13

Anyone else having the issue of incoming calls showing as no caller ID? Never had the issue on my iPhone X on MTN. On the iPhone 13 Pro now on Vodacom and yes I have the show caller ID option turned on in the settings

Isn't that option you're referring to meant to be your caller ID on outgoing calls? Most likely a Vodacom thing though.

When I was on Vodacom last they had CLIP and CLIR.

Caller Line Identity Presentation/Restriction

The setting on your phone is a local control for CLIR, both however are network options and CLIP cannot be controlled from the device side.

You will not see the numbers of incoming calls if CLIP is not enabled for your line.

I joined Vodacom in Dec with an iPhone. Had to call them to activate CLI @ R9.99pm. Hell knows why this couldn't be a thing when I was singing up. Was frustrated for two months not understanding why it won't show who is calling

As others have already mentioned above, you need to activate CLIP on your line @ R10 p/m. Call customer care or visit a Vodashop
