I can already upgrade at the moment. However, still need to fork out the remaining costs of the contract as well. Come end of May 2023, I can upgrade without any nasty surprises....

Currently using iPhone 11 Pro 256 g with 77% batter health. Great phone. Great features and very easy to use. Have had for nearly three years and NEVER had any issues. The camera is phenomenal and quality pictures are unreal.

Want to go bigger as I enjoy the photographic features.
Big question though:
1) Wait until end of the year for the iPhone 15 pro max or possibly the iPhone 15 Ultra - some amazing rumours flying around...
or
2) Upgrade now to iPhone 14 pro max.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Given the above I'd wait. At the very least 14 prices will fall once the 15 is announced.

No matter what apple device you're using, the best time to upgrade is only every 3-4 years because that's the only significant upgrade time frame with Apple devices.
Otherwise you're just upgrading how much you're paying for a device that didn't change at all.
So if you were using an iphone 7/8 and moved to iphone X/11 or using a iphone X/11 and moved to 13/14 or similar to that gap.
Otherwise you're just giving more of your money for less.

If you just care about the upgrade and money is no object then just upgrade now and then upgrade again when the 15 is announced lmao
If you want to be pennywise though, wait until the iPhone 15 is announced and get the iPhone 14 pro Max at a lower price than it is now.

That like saying 2026 is just around the corner.

Iterative features are not worth waiting half a year for.
Spending 30K on a phone that wont be the latest in 5 months doesn't seem like a great idea to me. But hey it is not my money. Besides the 15 could have significant features or a complete design overhaul.

I hear you and I get it. But spending 30k on a device that is not worth 30k is already where the bad decisions started to begin with.
The things is though, the difference between the 14 and the 15 will be minimal at best, those upgrades are going to be mostly software based and most of them will be supported by the 14 if they work on the 15.
But it's not my money so I would say, go big and spend it all on the 15 I guess, if you're going to waste money anyway, why not do it properly.

You must be confusing this with the android section.
That's where you lose an argument, when you start making it about brands rather than value.
I use both Android and Apple devices and I'm well aware of both their capabilities more more importantly, their value for money. Samsung devices are also selling for R30k btw, doesn't mean it's worth it.

The 16 will be even more worth it…

There will always be something better every 12 months. If you need it now, just get it. iPhone 14 PM is fantastic.

You’ll need a certified Apple USB-C cable to get decent speeds according to reports.
You can already buy Apple USB-C cables.

They're exactly the same as any other USB-C cable

I'm with @epah on this one.
