iPhone 16 Series

Thank you. My bad haven't been following apple, jumping ship from Samsung.

The worst part of this is that it's been so long and yet we still don't have eSims with every local provider.

Every non-US country you should be just fine though.

It depends on how sure you are that you will upgrade guaranteed to the latest iPhone every year, personally I only upgrade when it is worth it like going from my 12, but for your 1 year old iPhone pro model you've lost 10k value in a year is shocking

iStore seems to be ripping people off on trade ins as they will happily buy your 15 pro at 17k and sell it on iStore pre owned at 26 999.

Edit: on a perfectly immaculate iPhone 15 purchased in March

Sister payed R20k for this wow
They have already adjusted the trade in estimates to cater for the 16 series.

On that R11,200 they still need to put on a markup, and be cheaper than an iPhone 16 of R19-20k (estimated) which is brand new out of the box and one generation newer.

One could of course sell it privately and get a little bit more, but does one really want to go through the pain to advertise it on Marketplace, deal with scammers etc?

Jesus Christ Dolby is exhausting.

On the topic however I think I have settled on UltraMarine iPhone 16 plain, but now will just need to see what Friday brings otherwise I'll wait until end of November for a colleague to bring me one from the UK.

I was keen to get an Andar case this time around but now I feel like if I'm going colorful maybe an Apple case is the way to go.

iPhone 16 series supports much faster wired charging

Apple tends to omit detailed specifications for its iPhones and instead uses arbitrary terms for the most part. That includes wired charging speeds where the new iPhone 16 series, like their predecessors, are quoted to offer a 50% charge in 30 minutes when using Apple’s official 20W USB-C power adapter.

That’s all that Apple is saying on its official specs page, but a series of certifications from China confirms that Apple has dramatically upped the charging speed potential on the iPhone 16 series – peaking at 45W.

As per the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC), iPhone 16 (A3288), iPhone 16 Plus (A3291), iPhone 16 Pro (A3294), and iPhone 16 Pro Max (A3297 all support charging at 5-15 volts and 3 amps. This means up to 45W peak charging speeds which would be a notable improvement over the outgoing iPhone 15 series devices which topped out at 27-29W.

Core/iStore just likes money. The end. It's part of their "it's expensive so it must be better" thing they have going on.

They should not need to sell the old phone for a profit. They already made profit when they sold it the first time and more profit on the new phone. Then there are indirect profits of keeping you in the ecosystem ( accessories, icare, etc)

Samsung have this figured out. This year I got R14400 for a 5 year old S10e which was a giant chunk off the S24 Ultra and now I am in Samsung ecosystem for another few years.
