Samsung have this figured out. This year I got R14400 for a 5 year old S10e which was a giant chunk off the S24 Ultra and now I am in Samsung ecosystem for another few years.

On the topic however I think I have settled on UltraMarine iPhone 16 plain, but now will just need to see what Friday brings otherwise I'll wait until end of November for a colleague to bring me one from the UK.

I was keen to get an Andar case this time around but now I feel like if I'm going colorful maybe an Apple case is the way to go.

Careful with the clear Apple case. I bought one for my 15 Pro and it was as slippery as ice.

Oh no they suck.

Would be the matching blue one.

I just don’t know if it’s a mistake to move away from Rhinoshield. Maybe should just wait for them to match the colour.

My worry is the Apple ones don’t seem to have much of a lip.
 
That blue 16(regular) is pretty good looking. Considering getting that one or a 15P from Carbonite or somewhere like that, depending on the price announcements tomorrow.
Hopefully they're similar to what they were on the 15 series

So if I use my 90w laptop USB-C charger, will I get 45w on the iPhone?? Seems like a recipe for a fried battery.

That's not how charging works.

The phone will only draw what it needs. You can plug it into a 1000W charger, and the phone will only pull 45W max if it needs it.

I agree Samsung got it right just makes sense this way vs the istore way

Not expecting to pay R1000 and upgrade every year but at least like 6-7k each upgrade cycle would work

Just unfortunate Samsung phones slow down after a few years maybe it’s planned as my dads S9 slowed down after 4 years to the point of being unusable and took the trade in and got a S22 for 7k brand new

Ya I remember learning that the opposite is the problem - if you use a slower charger for a device which needs something stronger, you may damage the battery (this was years ago though so not sure if it's still the case).

Question though, if you use a 45W charger, I'm assuming it heats up the phone more. Would this theoretically degrade the battery compared to using a 20W charger for example?
