Iphone 3G Crash !! Anyone else out there ?

Hi Guys,

Had the horrifying experience yesterday. My iphone crashed !!!

Out of the blue it showed "No service" and the asked me for my pin again. After typing in my pin , 4 seconds later it asked for it again and it just went in to a never ending cycle !! Then after the 7th time entering the damn pin , it just reset itself and got stuck on the apple screen. I did a hard reset and still the phone wont go past the little "apple" display.

Plugged it into Itunes , did a restore and 10 seconds after the restore was complete , the machine was stuck again on the apple screen !!

No apps were loaded , i have not had the chance to load any mp3's or podcasts on to it yet so the phone was out of box. I had the phone for 5 days now.

Just want to know if there is someone else who experienced the same ? And do you think Vodacom will swop it out for a new one ?

vc should swap it out, I think you get a 14 day out of box failure swap out guarantee with most phones. but the root of this problem is the iphone, should have got the samsung ominia, much better :D
 
My friend had a similar problem, Aqua is right.

Put phone into DFU mode then restore should sort it out...

You are restoring with version 2.1 no??

Anything with Windows Mobile software on it can't be better, you serious?!?! :D

VC give a 1 year swop out warrenty on iPhones at least that what Dions Wired said when I got my phone from them.
 
This just confirms that the IPhone is a rock! LOL.. Geez im glad i did not decide to upgrade to the IRock.. oops i mean IPhone.. :)

You can return your phone at Vodacom within 7 days for a new one, no questions asked (thereafter they fix it). I can say this because I got a new phone from them recently.

Not wanting to jump on the bandwagon here but it is funny tracking the direction the threads on the iPhone are taking :

1. Yay, the iPhone is coming.
2. Whoohoooo, SA launch happening soon.
3. Nana, na na nah... I got one and you don't.
4. This is the bestest, prettiest phone ever in the whole universe!
5. How do I get to send mms's, change ring tones or other basic functions other phones have out the box?
6. Oh dear my iPhone is crashing... it is cracking... or other problems starting to surface...
7. One wonders what the next turn will bring us....

while playing with "papijump" on my iphone, i noticed smoke coming out from the speakers and it started getting real warm ... and i dropped it because of the heat and lo and behold it started burning, fire everywhere, lucky i was outside so it just fell on green grass and my phone burned to a smouldering lump of plastic :( .... weird ...

That will teach him to try and do basic things on the iPhone! Its just not backward compatible with old technology like copy and paste:rolleyes:

My word, surely you guys should be sick of bashing the phone already?!?!?

Ivan, you sort yourself out with putting the phone and DFU mode and restoring?
