Vodacom HAS REFUSED to swop out my phone. It will take Minimum 5 days to get my phone fixed. THIS IS ABSOLUTE BULL !!!! A fair Warning to all of you who is under the impression that Vodacom offers a 14 day no questions asked swop out!!!! It's NOT TRUE !!

Spoke to the Vodashop where I got my Iphone ...when I spoke to them about the 14 day no questions asked swop out , they had this blank look on their face !!!!! I MEAN !! WHAT THE HELL!!!! DONT EVEN TRY CALLING THEIR CALL CENTRE , THEY JUST TRANSFER YOU FROM 1 PERSON TO THE NEXT !!!

I AM GOING TO CANCELL MY CONTRACT !!! THIS IS NOT COOL AT ALL !!

Right, as if the iPhone was the only phone ever to have problems and Vodacom was a brilliant and helpful company before it launched the iPhone...

*Sigh*

Look, this incessant iPhone bashing is getting seriously tedious. Those of us who bought the iPhone are fully aware of its limitations (all phones are a compromise), but we judged its benefits, such as the brilliant UI, multi-touch screen, desktop integration and App Store, to be worth far more than the downsides. I've been using smartphones for years, jumping between S60, UIQ, Palm & WinMo in the hope of finding a UI that didn't suck to the point that I could do the things I wanted to do without wanting to throw my phone across the room twice a day. So far, the iPhone is the only smartphone I've ever owned that I've really been happy with. It's nice to use, rather than being a crippled attempt at a cut-down PC.

But that's not important to some people, who'd rather have more storage/a stylus/FM radio or whatever else it is that makes somebody choose an Omnia over an iPhone. And hey, if it works for you, I'm glad. As I said before, all phones are compromises, and picking a phone involves finding the mix of compromises that suits your needs and wants best. But for my part, having used both an Omnia and an iPhone, I could never be satisfied with the user interface on the Omnia.

You'd think this is all a simple enough concept, but it clearly hasn't reached some of the people on this forum, who spend a fair bit of time each day trawling each of the iPhone-related threads in the hope of finding an opportunity to rant against a phone they've never owned and to mock those who bought it. I'm looking at you, Lancelot.

But that kind of behaviour just smacks of desperation. Ironically, it's the reserve of the true fanboys, who live under the mistaken impression that in order for their chosen company's products to be seen as good, all possible competitors (and those who buy them) must be denigrated repeatedly. After all, God forbid somebody might actually *prefer* the iPhone to the Omnia/5800/E71/Storm/Touch Pro.

So will all the fanboys please just shut up. You're chasing away potential users.

i couldnt agree more. you see i dont see the need for a copy nad past function or mxit or mms so for me its great, that been said the appstore from itunes is a pretty good place to find useful programs and i recon in the near future we may be able to buy other programs that will satisfy our needs. but for now the iphone rules but i stress for now because there will always be a better cellphone in the near future. and to all the guys that rip the iphone off i say this buy the phone and then tell me you dont want it possibly 80% will keep it

Ha ha welcome to the forum.... i now expect some sort of compensation/gear from RPM for dragging these people out of the woodwork and getting them to join MyBB so they can have their say! :)

I also find it interesting that you came on here hoping to breath some fresh info into these stale arguments but you have really just done what every other iPhone fan has said... bitched about the fact that people have chosen to point out shortfalls of the iPhone.

Now this needs to be put into perspective... when ever someone comes on claiming their phone is the best this happens. Someone else will come along and say why it isn't. In fact Ryan and I have been having a respectful and meaningful conversation in the Omnia/N82 thread and eventually came to agreement. The problem is you iPhone users are self self absorbed that you of course only visit the iPhone threads and would be unaware of these other discussions, therefore assuming it is only your poor little phone that gets picked on.

The other problem is you may see more bashing of the iPhone are there are far more threads being started claiming how it is the best thing since sliced bread. Now that is fine of course as it is a public forum but if anyone/anything claims to be the best it better live up to these claims or expect to be challenged. If it is challenged and shown to have shortfalls you should not then resort to making claims of jealousy as a result of not being able to afford said object....

The good thing about your post was the degree of honesty in admitting the shortfalls and ambitions of the iPhone. If only all other owners would have done this from the start instead of making claims of greatness....
