Hi Guys

I was just wanting to find out if its possible to use an MTN sim in a retail iphone 3g. I am wanting to buy one on prepaid soon and don't want any hassles like unlocking etc. Is it possible to just take out the vodacom one and put in my MTN one. Will I loose any functionality and will I be able to access the app store etc. I have tried asking these questions to all the shops and the only answer was from one of the vodacom employees saying that it should work fine.

Please let me know if this is possible.

Thanks

VC's iPhones are unlocked and will work on all networks and you shouldn't have issues with the Apps' store, etc - this coming from a non-iPhone user though ;)

Thanks guys I am looking forward to getting one. hopefully soon. The only thing that scares me is the firmware updates over 200mb each.

I got me an iphone (on my vodacom contract that the wife uses), and am using it on MTN 100%. No issues whatsoever (But don't listen to the vodacom reps in the shops, according to them you won't be able to do anything without a vodacom sim)

Hi guys

Thanks for the replies. I'm typing this on my new iPhone. This is the most beautiful/best phone ever.

please dont say that, its bound to start another "iphone is rubbish" debate...and i have no patience left in me to argue it....

Not sure but one good thing about Apple's updates is they're all akamised which means local only bandwidth.

Of course this only helps those of us on ADSL . . . .
