Hi guys,

I know that this has been extensively discussed in the past but I have to ask: has anyone tried (and succeeded) improving the speed of their iPhone 3G after installing iOS 4? I have tried a number of ways including tips from Apple forums. The gains are insignificant if any.

I am tempted to downgrade - check lifehacker.com if you are interested.

Steve Jobs has acknowledged this issue and promised a fix so hopefully 4.1 is better.

i reinstalled 4.0.2 without making a recovery, so it's a clean, fresh install and it really is much faster this way. I still jailbreaked to make use of the task killer though. but at least my phone is now usable with os 4.

Downgrade to 3.1.3 & jailbreak (http://spiritjb.com/). Most of the the iOS4 improvements have been on Cydia for months already. They will also slow your 3G down - you won't get something for nothing. But you can pick and choose which features you want and uninstall the rest.

I've got a jailbroken 4.0.2 iPhone 3G - it's not bad, but sometimes I wish it was just a bit more responsive....like in the good ol' days of iOS 3.

Let's see if iOS 4.1 can rejuvenate my iPhone 3G....then I'll be happy to keep it for another year.
