iphone 4 and Vodacom USSD Cmds?

I am trying to assist someone who uses a iphone 4 with ios7.1 the latest firmware. They appear have problems when sending USSD Cmd - *111*502# to Vodacom resulting in Airtime: R0, SMS: 121 Data: 700Mb. The "Airtime" should supply Voice Minutes not R0.
When trying *111# this will send results via SMS instead of displaying the results.
Q- Is an iphone thing or not so?

I have no problems with USSD having ios 6.3.3.
However you can use SMS query instead:

My mom's BlackBerry is doing the same thing. Obviously a problem with Vodacom. She has to call in every time she wants to see how much minutes she has left.
