Just need a quick confirmation.

I’m with Nashua mobile and I have an upgrade incoming. I want to get the iphone 4. Nashua Mobile has a talk 120 package as well as an anytime 200 package with bundled data tailor made for the iphone. Both are about 24 month contracts going for about R380-450pm which sounds about right. But with both packages I’m required to pay in R5000? I’m not sure but this smells like BS?

Sound like that yes, there shouldn't be any pay in on those contracts. Go directly to MTN

iphone5 should be here in a few months so maybe hold on until then

Nashua mobile is a scam... eliminate the middleman and go straight to Vodacom or MTN ... I got my iPhone 4 from Vodacom late last year... R315 monthly airtime and I pay R444 monthly ... Meaning I am paying about R129 really for the phone... over a period of 24 months... BTW, there was not such thing as a 'pay-in' ... In the end the phone will cost me about R3000... sounds like a great deal to me for a phone that retails for over R7000

Absolute BS. Autopage are the same (but no so expensive). And if it were not for the discounts i get i would have told them to stuff it.
BUT, there are tricks and trades of the business.
For one, you can negotiate - tell them that MTN has the special and they must match it.
Two, wait for the contract to expire and then ask for negotiated price. Make sure that price is better than current deals or you port.
Problem with 2 is that by then the iphone 5 will be out and that will sell at a premium.

I got iphone 4 from MTN for R459 for R350 A/Time(about 200 min) and it comes with 150mb data every month..No pay in,not bad..

I have made the same experience: I was due for an upgrade with Vodacom and decided to migrate to iTalk 120s and chose iPhone 4 16gig. Pay in was minor (~ R600) so i'm only paying for the package R450/month.

Once I received my phone my GF fell in love with the iPhone (who wouldn't??) and consequently also wanted to migrate and since she's due for an upgrade too. Only difference: she's with Nashua and they are asking for R2500 once off...???

It baffles me how Nashua is able to survive...- guess she'll cancel the Nashua contract and go directly to Vodacom. Way to go!!

I reckon iPhone 5 will be a small upgrade over the 4. There are rumours that it won't even be released this year!

Anyway, you can get it at Vodacom Direct for R270 a month - no pay in, or through MTN, don't pay those crazy prices.

Apple's WWDC is scheduled for June 6 to June 10... The WWDC is usually where they announce OS and IOS updates as well as the new iPhone. That said, Synaesthesia is correct about rumours from Japan that there might be delays this year due to a shortage of parts. I also agree that the 5 will really only be a small upgrade on the 4.
