Has anyone successfully "jailbroken" an iPhone 4? I have a unit from Vodacom and I am considering to do it.

yes , i did .... 2 weeks ago .... go to limera1n.com and blv me , its worthwhile

Do it!!! Opens up a world of possibility not that the iPhone necessarily needs it...

Works awesome man, give it a try. If you don't like it you can always revert to factory settings.

Can one still make use of your iTunes and AppStore with a jailbroken iPhone 4?

Hell yes... Word of advice 'tho... Whether it's this phone or the next, or the next... Watch guys like the Dev-Team http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ for legit jailbreaks, IPSW file downloads etc... Also, Firmware 4.2 is just around the corner so once you jailbreak your phone, make sure you don't download and install it from iTunes... Wait for the jailbreak.

That last bit might sound a bit confusing... If you jailbreak your phone now, you'll have a jailbroken phone running Firmware 4.1. Apple are set to release Firmware 4.2 in a couple of days... If you download the 4.2 update from iTunes, you'll loose your jailbreak... You need sit tight and wait for the 4.2 jailbreak to upgrade from 4.1 to 4.2...

Hi Greg, ironically I just read about the new update before I checked up on the posts. I was about to do the jailbreak now, but hey, I might as well wait a couple of days for 4.2 and the jailbreak. The programmers usually get their jailbreaks out as soon as possible .... (I Hope).

Cheers

No worries... As I say, keep checking in on the Dev-Team's site. Apple's FW 4.2 is supposed to be out tomorrow, the 16th, but it will take a couple of days for the jailbreak... Just be patient.

AFAIK it's now delayed due to WIFI problems on the iPad.......

rather jailbreak now, then you can send your SHSH to cydia and then u will know that you will always have freedom to downgrade

Thanks to jailbreaking my Iphone is now the ultimate device, All the little nigles I had after switching from HTC have been cured by some of the stunning apps on Cydia.
The Apps I cant do without,
SBSettings (allows quick acceses to all settings even from the lock screen by simply swiping down on the screen)
BTPS (Bluetooth Profile selector, alows me to disable A2DP on my BT headset so that only conversations go to it and not ringtones and notifications)
Wifi Sync (Sync to itunes over wifi, I often remote into my PC from my laptop while watching tv etc and its great to load a new App in itunes and then sync via wifi, no need for the cable!) Wifi sync not working with latest Itunes 10.1 yet!!
Call controller (Does things like when the phone rings and you place it face down the ring mutes! and shake to reject call to voicemail etc)
There are loads of others and some very cool themes, so go for it!!!

I can honestly say If I couldnt jailbreak my iphone 4 I would sell it and go back to HTC

ja , what they said

What you should be asking is if it's worth it having an iPhone that's not jailbroken? Especially with apps like backgrounder that finally bring true multi-taskking capabilities.

Well iOS 4 brought true multitasking but Jailbreaking is still good for other apps like Lockinfo and SBSettings.

Why not? Apps run in the background. They switch instantly. How is it not true multitasking?
