Hi there,

I was reading the forums and getting up to date with the latest Jailbreak for iPhone 4S.

I was just wondering, if I buy an iPhone 4S in America that is locked to the AT&T network and Jailbreak it, will it work over here in SA?

I did some research and it sounds like it will work as long as your network uses GSM technology and not CDMA?

I just want to make sure.

Thanks

Network lock and Jailbreak are two different things.

Don't waste your money on a network locked iPhone, ever.

You can only buy an unlocked iPhone from an Apple store, i.e. if you buy from one of the US cell operators it will be locked and unusable (as the others have said don't waste your time, only buy an unlocked iPhone from Apple).

Isn't the iPhone 4S a "world phone" meaning it ain't locked?

No the world phone basically means (I think) that there is longer 2 models ie a GSM version & CDMA version. There is now one that does both. We have GSM here.

Spot on; single dual mode chip from Qualcomm.
