Iphone 4s or Samsung Galaxy 2

You don't need to root it for that

For full access on Gingerbread you do. Without root the files that the OS recognises are automatically directed to where the OS decides. With full access I can work directly on the USB stick (edit, move, copy, paste, etc). Without root I couldn't do this.

thanks for the feedback. Looks like generally the SG is favoured but not much between them. MMMMM think im going to give it a go. Also heard the SG3 is not far off so knowing my luck this will come out a month after I upgrade.

You actually need a new phone every year. 2 years is too long.

If the S3 gets announced in April, we will probably only get it in October. I have a contract that upgrades every year in line with the Galaxy S range releases in South Africa (so far in anycase). Was a bit dissappointed with the SGS1 when I got it, but since the Froyo update it was really awesome. No such dissappointment with the S2 though.

I think that is the biggest problem right now.

Get out and go to MTN or Vodacom stores and play with the phones. Experience them first hand and make your choice from that.

Doesn't really matter what you choose. Anything is better than a Blackberry at this stage.

And remember to listen to that little voice inside your head

Samsung Samsung Samsung

HAHAHAHA ... very funny. >the little voice saying samsung ...<
Strange thing is, I'm hearing that voice right now.

I'm also torn between these 2 handsets.
Based on reviews, I'm also leaning towards the Samsung Galaxy SII.
My problem is that I hardly ever make calls (I also have a work sponsored Berry), so paying the R300 ish a month without calls/sms/data, etc is a bit tough to justify.
I've also considered the baby brother Galaxy S Plus which is more cost effective and not tooooo far off the pace from the S2.

2 contracts is the answer, each a year apart :)

I have one ending now end of Feb and looking at either the RAZR MAXX/Galaxy Nexus/SGS3 but then again I have 2 Android phones already so in no rush to get a new one.

edit: Forgot to mention the contract ending is for my iPhone 4 (Vodacom), and I dont see the need to get a 4s seeing that my 4 is in the drawer most of the time (Dev+Software testing)

Come now Elimentals, you want the Galaxy Note. Just do it. Get a Android quad core device when your other contract expires. :D

If I do the Eee pad is going to go to same route as the 1st Gen iPad* ie: forgotten. Be honest do you even use your tablet anymore after you got that thing?

*This brings up a nagging issue that irritate the living crap out of me. My iPhone keeps on draining even when off so everytime I want to use it I have to charge it 1st. I wonder if its normal or just something faulty with the device?

Have both and use both. Every second week the other one. Love both but what's clear is the excessive number of dropped calls on the s2, specially when driving.

Great, big massive mistake, not the S2, it is the Iphone 4s dropping calls. Sorry big time

Didn't understand this at all.

I'm guessing he didn't know how to edit his original post where he mistakenly said the S2 kept dropping calls instead of the i4s.

Back on topic: I only had the iPhone 3 8gb so I can't really compare, but absolutely loving my S2. Only thing that I prefer on the iphone is the keyboard and predictive texting.

I use my 7" P6200 and the iPad every day yes. The 10" P7500 is not used at all. For sale but no one is biting. The Note does play a larger role for sure (in every way :D ) but the pads do have a place still. The iPad will always have a place due to the apps I have on it that I use daily. Nothing beats Zen Pinball on the iPad :D.

On both my 7" Honeycomb tablet and Note I get a "not compatible with your device" message for Zen Pinball.

Its because its the THD version. You will need chainfire to run it.
