please can I have some advise, recommendations on this. Im due an upgrade and want to try a new phone other then BB which ive had for 2 years now. I have read dozens of reviews but cant make up my mind.

I went the Samsung Galaxy S2 root(pun intended)

Have an iPad2 and love it but after playing around with the iPhone and SGS2 I just knew I wanted the Samsung.

I think that is the biggest problem right now.

Get out and go to MTN or Vodacom stores and play with the phones. Experience them first hand and make your choice from that.

Doesn't really matter what you choose. Anything is better than a Blackberry at this stage.

And remember to listen to that little voice inside your head

Samsung Samsung Samsung

I had an iPhone 4 and now have a Samsung Galaxy S2.... You will be happy with either I reckon. I really enjoyed my iPhone and I really enjoy my S2. Would be very difficult for me to choose one as being better than the other. I'd also look at price, I have a feeling the iPhone is a lot more than the S2 so for me that would be something to take into consideration.

Once you root your S2 you can connect a USB thumb drive to it with full access to the drive. Your whole world then changes. I can now transfer stuff between PC, S2 and Note without connecting the phones to a PC and I can store anything I want and as misch as the drives can take on USB drives (music om the one, movies on another, books and docs on another, etc). When you get to this point the iPhone is well and truly dead dead dead.

Galaxy Nexus!

My SGS2 is stock standard, and using the Samsung USB connector I can connect any flash drive I want.
Movies, music, documents.... anything is viewable.

I have an iPhone 4 and galaxy s 2. The galaxy s2 blew the iPhone 4 out the water so it's in a cupboard somewhere.

I think it's safe to compare the 4 even though you asked 4s. games wise iPhone has much better ones but for everything else.... Android.

Have both and use both. Every second week the other one. Love both but what's clear is the excessive number of dropped calls on the s2, specially when driving.

Great, big massive mistake, not the S2, it is the Iphone 4s dropping calls. Sorry big time

Sorry for OT post but where did you get the usb connector from? I haven't been able to find one

If you invested in ios apps or droid apps make that choice as to start your library over.... I love the 4s, but upgrading was easy as i already own almost 300 ios apps. That said, i really like the gs2 and love the note!

How do you change sim between micro slot for 4s and normal for ga2?

because of the stock issue on the 4s and my impatience I ordered my S2 yesterday... glad it seems to be the consensus that its the better phone :) (the one time my impatience paid off hahahah)

You don't need to root it for that

Go with the S2. Its better and more affordable. The iPhone contracts here in SA are a complete rip off. No one should pay that much for a phone.
