Hi All

I have some questions regarding the iPhone 4S and importing it... I am certain my fellow mybroadbandians can be of assistance and would greatly appreciate the help and points of view...

My iPhone was recently stolen and I got paid out by the insurance company so I'm sitting with R7,100 that I have to spend on the phone replacement.

I would ideally like to get the iPhone 4S as the iPhone 4 just seems so overpriced right now at R7,000 for the base 16 gb model and there also appears to be very limited stock of the black model and none of the white variant. I specifically want the white model and this is the only reason I haven't bought it yet.

So my options are as follows:
1. Buy it from Expansys.co.za for R9,899.95 including a cover and screen guard.
2. Buy it from MTN Cyprus for 798 Euro (My mother lives in Cyprus and is coming down next Friday so this is a good option as it unlocked from MTN Cyprus).
3. Wait for iPhone 4S to launch in SA and hope and pray it comes in less than R8,600 (which is the current price approximately of 798 Euro).

And now... my questions are:
1. What is the after purchase support of Expansys like?
2. Can the grey imports of Expansys only be returned to them or can they be returned to Vodacom/MTN/Apple as well?
3. Of the 3 options above, which is honestly the best in your opinion?

Thanks in advance. I appreciate any help as you guys will help me make up my mind!

I had huge issues returning a faulty pair of R1200 headphones to Expansys. Took me months to get my refund so ja, I wouldn't buy a R10k phone from them.... but that's just my experience...

You might as well get when it comes out (if you can wait) I mean it should be here apparently on the 24th Nov, just phone places now to put yourself on the waiting list or they might all sell out!

I would say find out from Core 1st if they will cover it.

Before I bought my Xperia Play I emailed Sony to get confirmation that they will cover it in regard to warranty claims. They replied that it will get covered but I will have to ship it to them in case of warranty claims. So its not as easy as walking into a Vodashop to get sorted but there is a way.
