iPhone 5 October launch corroborated by Al Gore

Glad I'm not one those that have just forked out thousands for an iPhone 4 ( or got one on contract upgrade/renewal).
 
I just hope we get the new software on older models like 3GS. Already we have seen the old models losing out on some features like wireless network point in the latest update.
 
gore is against global warming, but supports douchebaggery? i don't get it.

looking forward to upgrading my wife to ios5 though. upgrading things excites me. :)
 
I've heard romours that this will be a global launch. Can anyone confirm that SA will get the new phone at the same time as the rest of the world?

Indeed iOS5 will run on the 3GS. I have my wife's 3GS running iOS5 beta. It is a little slower than iOS4, but given all the changes and improvements I am not surprised. Still hoping for a bit of a speed improvement though before GM or final release.
 
Find it interesting that iOS5 has almost the same kind of notification area as Android phones. Think Google should sue for stealing ideas.

Really don't know whats so great about the features that everyone is anticipating either. Android phones had most of them for the past 2 - 3 years already.

Agreed, What features could they possibly add that hasn't been done already?
iPhone 5, now thinner and faster than the previous iPhone. pay us R8000 for nothing more!

Most people know that apple launches new versions of their phones/pads approximately every year, you either get the stuff as soon as they launched or not long after, otherwise be prepared for you device to be 1 version behind in a few months.

For the guys that dont know that - well hard luck. But its not all bad, the devices are well supported and often work just as well as the new ones.
 
Blaa blaa blaa. Too much hype for nothing. Apple copied android on many features in the latest IOS update. Iphone 4 was a disaster in terms of maintenance and the phone most prone to damage.... repair shops have been making a killing.
 
Thanks for the update Mr. Frost! I am looking forward to see how this will affect the android market.
 
Don't understand all the excitement around this announcement.

It is just common business sense.

There is no way that they would have missed the Christmas shopping season for the year, so of course it will be released in October.
