iPhone 5 October launch corroborated by Al Gore

As they say in classics, an Apple fanboy is a person that's worship Apple products, everything else fanboy is a boy that holds the fan so that device doesn't explode from overheating!

With their slumping global marketshare they have no choice but to no longer apply their Cartmanland policy to so-called third world markets.

iPhones suck anyway, only old people use them.

...Really don't know whats so great about the features that everyone is anticipating either. Android phones had most of them for the past 2 - 3 years already.

Really now? The iPad can have 2 displays (currently, in iOS4 via a HDMI cable) and this feature is used very effectively by the likes of Real Racing HD2, a racing game where you have telemetry data displayed on your iPad while the track and racing action happens on your TV. Now, with iOS5 this can happen wirelessly too, no HDMI cable required.

I know of no Android platform that can do this.

And then there's the integration with iCloud. As an iOS developer I have tested this extensively already, it is going to blow your socks off.

But I will keep quite for now and let everyone see when iOS5 (and, off course, iPhone 5) is released. Lest I am accused of being a fanboy! :D

Blaa blaa blaa. Too much hype for nothing. Apple copied android on many features in the latest IOS update. Iphone 4 was a disaster in terms of maintenance and the phone most prone to damage.... repair shops have been making a killing.

Yes, but what the poor fagbois don't realize is that Apple cannot implement a MetroGUI, it is now a M$ patent.
The iPhone is going to become more obsolete than a tape walk-man :D

Agreed, What features could they possibly add that hasn't been done already?
iPhone 5, now thinner and faster than the previous iPhone. pay us R8000 for nothing more!
Well that's just the point isn't it??!! What Apple sell you is a premium piece of hardware running on an OS containing essentially the most basic of features.

Luckily there is this thing called the appstore where the end user can decide what features they want or need.

Why a product needs to ship with countless apps and features to gain credibility is beyond me.

There is no bloatware on an iPhone and for that most users are quite relieved and grateful....

Looking at all they hype on Google Wallet, I sure hope iPhone 5 comes with NFC

I know its not of much use for us in SA but the rest of the world is eating this up, as if its the invention of the wheel or something.

I just hope we get the new software on older models like 3GS. Already we have seen the old models losing out on some features like wireless network point in the latest update.

Upgrade your iPhone. iPhone 3gs is getting long in the teeth and the 8gig 3gs model is expected to be dropped from the iPhone line up.

As much as i was an apple hater, after i got the ipad 2! I must say they have converted me, i would looooooove and Iphone 5 but i cant image myself getting one because of the price, looking at the iphone 4 i cant even get that! But yea for all the haters, its a good product!

Nicely put. While Android is a brilliant OS, u can't discount iOS as not having the same features. I'd go as far as saying they pretty similar in what they can do.

We gonna have to wait for an Android update before we can properly compare it to iOS5. I'm on the iOS side of the fence but I like it when Google gives Apple a run for its money.

Agreed. If it were not for other companies (Google, Palm, M$, et al) trying to steal some of iOS's thunder then iOS itself would stagnate. Or at least grow at a lesser rate. As much as Apple is to thank for what we perceive nowadays as a smartphone, others are also to thank for Apple's continued strive towards perfection. To remain ahead they have to continuously innovate, as do all the others.

+1. Remember in the olden days when we only had Symbian S60 vs Windows Mobile 6 ? All I can say is aaarrrrrrghhhhhhhhh. So yeah competition is good for all of us, and leads to great innovation, awesome user experiences and technology leaps in bounds. Go Apple, go Google, go Microsoft, go RIM. The more you guys slog each other for market share, the more the rest of us win.

+1 Totally Agree

Man I can't wait for next month as all 3 big guns trying to "out-do" each other with big releases.

Apple - iPhone 5 / iOS 5
Google - New Nexus phone / Ice Cream Sandwich
Microsoft - Nokia Phone / Mango
Guess you can say to a lesser degree new QNX phones from RIM press releases would also be interesting to watch.

The N9 and sea ray is on the pipeline so be sure when you upgrade to IOS cause most of you dont even know whats in the package and you're screeming ''i want one'' anyway good luck for those upgrading to ISO
