iPhone 5S NFC?..

Aren't the S models akin to face lifts in cars - in other words little nips and tucks?

If it does have the fingerprint sensor, it should be called iPhone 6 ... as that's quite a major change

The fingerprint sensor looks like a shoe-in. NFC... Yeah I dunno about that. The S models are 'tocks' in the sense that they don't change the basic manufacturing of the phone, but there's no hard rule about what they can add.
 
Apple has never been keen on NFC. Its power hungry when its on and useless when you have to switch it on and off. I doubt it will be there.
 
What if the NFC is implemented so that it automatically turns on and off depending on what app is being used. So for example, if you open passbook NFC will turn on, when passbook is closed it automatically turns off. When you have NFC + Fingerprint reader in a phone I think the first thing that comes to mind is mobile wallet. I'm sure Apple wants to move in that direction. It already has a gazillion credit cards on record.
 
What a fantastic idea this NFC thing. I just love Apple, they are just the most amazing innovators. That's why everyone else just copies off their amazing ideas them. Can't wait to iNFC my life !!

I'm pretty sure there will be a fingerprint scanner, as it isn't such a big move. Take Siri for example, it was introduced with the iPhone 4S.

Apple hasn't given you guys permission to like it yet. We've yet to see if it'll come in the iPhone 5S - but I also think a hardware change in an 'S' isn't the norm? Maybe next year you guys will get permission

Or maybe they'll continue doing what they've been doing quite successfully so far, which is to create products with nfc-like capabilities but with real-world applicability.
