iPhone 5S order with MTN

Ah that sucks, I'm really sorry to hear this. I received a call from MTN 2 days ago to let me proceed with my online order. A shocking 20 days after I placed my order! I told them that I already got my gold one from the store and I asked them what the point was of me preordering if I received a call from them after the phone was launched! They had no answer for me lol..

the best part is, a guy in our office who has an mtn contract, didnt do a single thing, just phoned our local mtn branch the morning of the 15th and went to pick up his phone the afternoon!

I've learnt that the preorders was a complete waste of time and gave us zero advantage over people who didn't preorder. These cell providers really don't know how a preorder works

I was fully aware of it being a subdued form of gold, and is exactly why I wanted it. To me it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I literally stare at it all day lol

I also received a call from mtn 2 days ago, a whopping 20 days after my online order! They asked me if I would like to proceed with my order (gold was in stock), but I declined since I already got the phone from mtn. I told them how ridiculous it was that they were only able to contact me now and that this preorder had no advantage at all. Anyway they thanked me for buying it from the store anyway lol.. Btw the store only had one gold in stock and since I camped outside the store for a few hours, I was the first at the store and got it. The guys behind me were so mad! Never in a million years would I have thought that I would be like those crazy people who camped outside a store for an iPhone. Look at me now!

Did you get your phone yet?
 
I'm actually considering moving to another SP now so waiting for their deals to come out. It'd be necessary to upgrade to a 5S especially, since the iPhone 5 doesn't support their LTE network. You know, the SP that offers 5GB data with their phones? ;)

Telkom mobile (forgive me, I'm not sure)? They already have their deals out if so.
 
That be them, sorry - did not want to name drop in an MTN specific section but this isn't one. :p

My bad - I see their deals are out. Considering the SmartPlan 150 with a Note 2 (includes 5GB data), then selling the Note 2 + my iPhone 5 32GB to fund a 5S 32GB. #Masterplan

Hahaha yeah their deals are really expensive.

Maybe you could help me with this, it's rather embarrassing - so I've only been using my 5S on wifi this whole time. Today when I actually switched on the data, the internet wouldn't work at all. Am I suppose to activate something? When I click "cellular data" there is an empty space in the username and password entries. Am I suppose to enter something in there? Thanks!

No usernames or passwords.
MMS check the photo for reference.

I would really urge you though to join Afrihost, then the APN fields, except for MMS, must all change to 'afrihost'.

Cellc had no stock for me, MTN did, I signed up to port in store, being vetted. If CellC had stock I would have stayed with them.

My settings were already like this (it came like this) but it still does not work. Thanks so much for trying to help though. Do you have any other suggestions?

Hmm. Reset network settings? Failing which, you may have to request support via 808.

Update:
Yea... still no call back from MTN, starting to wish I never bothered and stayed with CellC.
CellC vet me like on the same day and signed me up, these folks take forever.

I tried to contact the store, nobody picks up... but I was told Friday they have stock of the 16GB 5s silver and will keep one aside. I don't believe them anymore. I might just cancel moving over if this takes too long.
 
I managed to get the Gold iPhone 5s at MTN on on the 18th, It then was faulty and had to return it as an OBF, the store I bought it at only had 1 Gold, its been more than a week and I am still waiting for a replacement.

It really is a shocking how cellular providers treat their customers. Telkom Mobile and Cell C excepted.

Wow you're lucky to get the only gold one in the store three days after it launched!

You should definitely pop MTN a message on Facebook and Twitter. They will sort out everything and get back to you in a short amount of time. It's really helpful..
