iPhone 6 from UK

Hi, has anyone bought or imported an iPhone 6 in UK and used it on SA networks? With the current stock problem in SA, I am considering getting one from UK as I have family there who will be visiting SA in 2 weeks time. The sim-free price is pretty much the same as in SA.
Good / bad idea?

You just don't get support for it if it breaks, otherwise it works great here.
