iPhone 6s

Got my 64gb 6s Plus in silver yesterday, after a few months on a windows phone. Glad to be back :-)

Opted of silver as I have previously only had space grey and am tired of the fingerprints.. Wanted the 128gb phone but I just couldn't justify the cash price, especially since I already have a 128gb iPad Air 2.

Got the 6s Plus 64 gig as well in Silver.. it's awesome!

Touch is so quick, I don't even have time to swipe to return a missed call! Very impressive!

I got the 128gb 6S Plus in silver, also couldn't justify the cash price, but luckily the 64gb and 128gb were the same on MTN Sky (unlimited). My first silver iPhone since the gold came out.

Re the touch, Yes haha, When you receive a message and you click the home button to open the lock screen it unlocks so quickly that you don't have time to read the message :D

So I was at the iStore in CW to check whats up & played fairly long with a 6s Plus. 3D Touch is very quick to grasp & work rather well; I can set its potential in the future & so many devs/Apps have been updated for this as well.

36 month contracts FTW!...

Not really....

My upgraded is early Jan so gotta be a little more patient.

Whow 36 month contracts.
Saves you about R140 per month.
If you dont mind being stuck with the same phone for three years it might make flagships affordable to more people. What do you think?

Can only see this happening with iPhones, as they're still fast after 1/2/3+ years.

I don't think it's to bad if I'm honest.

They serve a market.

Hmm...by doing it obviously lowers ones monthly premium & for some that more NB than to others.

I'm actually in two minds...let me pick your guys brains for a sec.

I currently have an iPhone 5; running perfect; just a bigger screen & I can't complain. I *don't* have to have Apple's latest & greatest every year.

So say I wanted a 64gb iPhone 6s Plus at the cheapest 24 month contract that is R619x24 = R14 856

VS

Same iPhone at 36 months is R449x36 = R16 164.

That makes total cost of R1308 more in the long run vs R170pm less monthly contact price.

What do you guys think...terribly inefficient or can work?

Remember that on the 3 year deal you will have a extra year of airtime sms's and data , worth at least the R1308 I think.

Yes that is true as well...why do people hate on it though; yes 36 months is long period for a phone but if you don't need upgrade every yr or 2 I think it can make sense. Interested to know if any other people would consider a 36 month contract in order to get the phone they want (read: high capacity) & lower their monthly fee.

My two cents - if you don't need the latest and greatest get the 6 over 24mnths rather than the 6S over 36 months. You don't want to be paying for a phone for 36 months in my opinion.

This nearly R200pm difference for the 64gig 6s on vodacom vs MTN is bugging me. It's also R300 more than my current 5s smart S contract which has 1gig data (200+800 "free") a month. Tbf this is a 5s 16gig contract

I am in two minds. I know what I am getting with vodacom when it comes to 4g/lts in the areas I frequent. But then again, I am mostly on wifi.

I must say I have been looking at those 36 month deals as well hey.. I mean lower monthly sub, I could go go insurance with the extra cash and maybe my phone could go missing after two years and I can pay in a difference for the current latest.. Maybe iPhone 7s ?

Just need to confirm wha the insurance would cost but, everybody hating on the 36 month contracts but believe me to going to sell.

^^ would also like to know the guys moving over from Sammy what their impressions are, seriously considering it.
Looks like I'll be moving from an S6 Edge to a 6 (not S) Plus tomorrow so I can possibly give you my views...

I've had many iPhones and Samsungs in the past. Just look at the OS and if you like it, you'll enjoy the phone :)

Yeah please let me know. I think I'm 95% on my way to Apple, your review might be the missing 5% needed :P Just basically deciding which contract offer would suit me best at this point

I've always been an iPhone user. I've had every single iPhone since the iPhone 4. I've tried android and just didn't like it. I felt it was too bloated, slow, laggy and battery just sucked. iPhones are always just buttery smooth, fast, responsive and easy to use. I don't really care much for customization. Just give me a blazing fast phone that can handle anything. In comes iPhone 6s. I wasn't sure if I would get the new 6s this year, was planning on skipping it. As soon as it was confirmed that it had 2gb of ram, that alone convinced me. Add to that 3D Touch, a super blazing processor, improved cameras and it was a no brainer for me. Live Photos are really stupid I won't lie, it's a gimmick. I turned it off. Overall I am super impressed with the 6s and couldn't be happier I decided not to skip this one.

I think they will do extremely well even though I think they are a bad idea. Look at car finance - lots of people finance cars for 72 months which is not the smartest idea either.

Personally not the best analogy when one consider how much % of ones monthly income a car installment takes up vs a ones cellphone contract charge.

But yes 3 yrs is ages in the tech/phone world.

My question is how come the other 3 networks did not catch on (yet) & offer this well...or maybe they will after seeing how MTN clients respond.

I must say, when I heard about Live Photos I thought it was a gimmick but after spending some time with it it does add an additional dimension to your photos. It's not useful all the time but when you are taking photos of people or something happening it does add that extra something that indicates the mood etc of what was happening. When taking photos of views etc then it is useless and I turn it off but because it's easy enough to do you can use it when necessary.
