iPhone 6s

Hmm, things I've read here are starting to make me lean towards the Z5. Pity - I had high hopes for the 6S. Say it ain't so, guys!

Dare I say it, but the iPhone 5s may have a better camera than the iPhone 6s...

Please note that I'm a purist with a high level of attention to detail.

At this point my 5s seemed funner. It wasn't as sharp but there's just something about it and the end result.

The 6s takes amazing photos. The autofocus is extraordinarily good. Every shot is fantastic in true iPhone fashion. But something is different. Definitely the perspective/distortion which I've picked up on, and something with the post processing. It could be that the 6s is more sensitive to different exposures, and that the 5s is more forgiving.

I will post more after I've tested more.

One thing that I am really enjoying about the iPhone 6s is the camera.

Granted my previous HTC's camera was really poor but this camera means I don't need to lug my dSLR around unless its serious and I need the manual controls, zoom etc. Burst shot and slow mo working great for action pics on the MTB.

I've only ever thought things were a bit dark witj the camera but that's probably more down to me than it. So anyway, I took a few landscapy type shots this morning with lots of lines to look for distortion. Nothing evident.

Nice. I hope my camera isn't faulty. Though there are quite a few reports of distortion since the iPhone 6.

P.S. Not a good demonstration. We need known objects for reference, at the sides. Rocks etc. are random so it's much less apparent.

In your first pic, the rectangular object on the right. I may be picking up some distortion there. Obviously pedantic, I know.

It's just something I've never picked up with all my previous iPhones.

Yeah I get your point. I'll keep an eye open and try some other thing's later.

Here's a zoom from the original into the object you mentioned.

If you turn off HDR do you still get distortion?

I'm using auto HDR with Keep Normal Photo. So whenever HDR does kick in, I have the original too.

Given this, are you suggesting I disable auto HDR?

The distortion is very noticeable here along the bottom and right corner.

Again, it's pedantic. Again, my previous iPhones never did this. I'll be able to live with it as long as I know my camera isn't faulty. :)

I don't see it PP. Looks pretty straight and parallel where it should be.

The bottom horizontal is (quite significantly) longer than the top one. They are not parallel either, the bottom horizontal is clearly at a different angle.

Presumably because they lie towards the outer edges of the picture, where lenses suffer most from distortion.

Of course, one's perspective also has an affect here. But, to me, the distortion is clear.

Fair enough. Still don't see it :D

Here's a couple of pics with HDR on and off. Uploading from my phone so not getting a chance to check for distortion properly, but look at the difference in lighting.

HDR ON

Turn off HDR and take a few pics. It might be the stitching algorithm that is doing this.

So PP as you mention you are most certainly a purist....I'm guessing 95%-98% of "S" buyers would not notice this?

Correct.

I've been testing the iPhone 6s and 6, clear distortion with straight lines. To be expected though I suppose. It's just something that the 5s doesn't suffer from as much.

I also feel that the 5s renders colours slightly better, slightly darker. It seems to handle brighter situations better, and not over expose.

6s is overly bright to me and I find myself having to swipe down to reduce exposure.

As an aside(?) to what might/might not already have been said – had a half hour to kill today whilst Digicape replaced my MBP battery, and:

1.) tried on the Apple watch (Vodacom 6S + AW deal is beginning to look good);
2.) played around with the ATV4 (remote takes some getting used to – but had fun playing Asphalt 8; and Plex is good enough reason for me to get it in the new year)
3.) Had a play around with the 3D Touch on the 6S... Looks to be a really useful feature... It's quite frankly astonishing how they managed to get that to work... Really hard to explain, until you've tried the Peek and Pop!

But then again, I've clearly drank the koolaid, so what do I know... :p

Is it not possible to add an attachment in the iOS email client?
