iPhone 6s

Check the revised pricing of the 6S on myistore.co.za after the rate of exchange disaster. All models up by roughly R1800. iPhone 7 won't be attainable at this rate.

It's gonna be an issue for all electronics unfortunately. Dark days ahead :-(

I actually ordered the 16gb for my "upgrade" going from a 32gb quite happily because I cloud everything.

Music on Apple Music and Photos on Google Photos.

So really just need to flush my Photos when it gets full and problem solved.

^ Check internet connection and leave it there for a minute or two. Splash screen takes you to the Apple Music sign up.

settings > Music; turned off "Show Apple Music"
Logged out of iTunes Store
Logged out of App Store
Killed the Music App
Restarted Phone
Log back in to iTunes, App Store, etc

Hilarious.

I'm back at my desk now and was doing this when I thought about pressing Touch ID to see what options were there. So I'd already switched off Apple Music as per the first step, then I went out of Settings and back to home screen and pressed Touch ID on the music icon, then clicked on Search from the menu....

Instantly, splash screen gone and it seems to be working normal now :)

A bit quicker and less of a pain than logging in and out and switching everything on and off again.

iPhone 7 plus 64gb @ R 19 499 is my guess which will spell the end of my apple days as I downgrade to more affordable brands.

Yet other brands will depreciate by half after 1 - 2 years while Apple depreciates by 30%.

Don't be silly.

By that calculation, anyone want to take my as new 1 year old 6 plus 64gb off my hands for R9000. Paid R12999, if I get 9k back for it now I'd be impressed.

That's what they were in Jan 15, mine is a year old now. Infact 12599 from Istore.

Buying cash from iStore/SPs is not shrewd. Buying upgrades etc. cash from classifieds for much less than the iStore/SPs is shrewd.

I reckon you could get around R7,500 - R8,000 if it's in excellent condition, which would be in line with the +-30% depreciation had you been shrewd.

Surely in order to ascertain true resale value one has to take into account the selling price through authorized resellers rather than people desperate to flog their upgrades for cash? inevitably Apple have created a halo brand which demands higher than average pricing at inception and the knock on is better resale however if one compares to Samsung their pricing strategy seems to be to drive pricing down fairly quickly after launch and supply and demand has equalized which effects resale. So one could get a 6 week old Samsung device through authorized resellers at a substantially discounted price, the same can't be said for Apple. Search the net, not too many truly great deals on Apple although there were no shortages of the 6s.

I'd love to stay with Apple but I won't be paying R20k for a phone and I'm not that keen on the upfront discount vs risk that is associated with buying on the used market even if the device is new - simply too much risk of the contract holder defaulting etc. I'm sure there are great deals to be had but I imagine Apple are in for tougher times than the other major players in SA as or *** currency ruins everything.
