iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

The Speedtest.net app gives me very weird results, so either something wrong with the app or with my Phones wifi. Are there other apps to test the wifi speed between my phone and my home network?

Not a plug actually, just the male part of whatever old 3.5 headphones you have lying around. Simple really. The adapter is female.

iOS 10.2 Beta 2 is out for those part of the program

Included in this new beta is Apple's TV app, which is meant to help Apple TV owners find things to watch, as well as easily view their purchased movies and TV shows. This app was presented at the company's October event, when it unveiled the new MacBook Pro line. Also new is an Emergency SOS feature, which will contact emergency services when you press the power button five times. Finally, the Music app gets bigger Shuffle and Repeat buttons.

The initial iOS 10.2 beta also brought with it some new emoji, new wallpapers, and a new widget for the Videos app. Camera settings can be saved so that they don't always get reset to Auto when you restart the app, and you have a new option to rate music with stars (one to five).

How to make the most of Portrait mode on iPhone 7 Plus

With Portrait mode for iPhone 7 Plus having been launched in late October, by this time most owners of the dual-lens enabled device are sure to have played around a little with the exclusive camera mode. From experience, portrait shots can turn out real gems that will absolutely reaffirm you in your decision to go large, while at other times the camera setting can also prove agonizingly unreliable.

Regardless of your personal success rate with Portrait mode as yet, there are a handful of tricks to take into account when trying to nail that depth effect. I am by no means a professional or maybe even advanced photographer, but adhering to a couple of simple rules and learning from recurrent observations has without fail increased the quality of my personal portrait efforts. If you are underwhelmed with the camera setting or have not even given it a go yet, let me share a few knacks with you to bring you up to speed.

Despite its name suggesting the primary purpose of artful photography of loved ones, applications for Portrait mode are much more abundant than just capturing faces. To exemplify my observations as clearly as possible, none of the subjects in this article actually revolve around portraits of people. Instead I have been out in the wild, taking advantage of the local flora and my trusted coffee mug to drive home the points I want to lay out for you below. Some of them you might find incredibly basic and common-sense, others you might not have factored in before. Let’s kick it off with the most straightforward of directives in Portrait mode:

I am considering upgrading from 6 plus to 7 plus. Since I work in a building/area with bad 3g coverage, I am a bit concerned about the posts (links below), that suggest the IPhone 7/7+ models with Intel modems have a lot worse cellular performance than those with Qualcomm modems.

Starting with IPhone 7, it is the first time that Apple has used two different suppliers for modem chips. It seems only the US models that are sim unlocked or on Verizon or Sprint networks, and the Japanese and Chinese models use the Qualcomm modems, while the UK and European models definitely have the Intel modems.

From those of you who have already purchased from IStore, I would like to ask which models are sold locally? This can be checked by looking at the model number – the A1778 and A1784 models use Intel and the A1660 and A1661models use Qualcomm.

If we are stuck with Intel in SA, could anybody please comment on noticeable differences in cellular performance over previous IPhone models?

Thanks in advance for any response!

I have the iPhone 7 32GB and it is the A1778 model. I had a Nexus 5X before the iPhone and compared to that the signal is much better on the iPhone. Getting mostly 3G at my place of work where the Nexus would often stay on 2G the whole day (bad signal area). If it is better or worse than the iPhone 6/6s I cannot say.
