Hi everybody.

When recording video with the rear camera, there is a distinct hiss (like your filming in a server Room) that is not there when filming with the front facing camera.

I tried with and without flash, with and without airplane mode but it's constantly there.

Someone mentioned mic gain control but I don't have that option anywhere.

Any help?

Does covering up the microphone make any difference?

Would at least then narrow it down between a hardware and software issue.

I wonder if it uses a different microphone between the two cameras and maybe one is dodgy.

Same problem if you use an external mic?

Have you tried cycling power or doing a soft reset?

Also, do you live in an area with a lot of snakes? :p

From what I remember this was a known issue at some point but can't remember on which iPhone whether the 7 plus or 6 plus. I think it was a software problem not hardware, something triggering the GPU and CPU to go bonkers then causing the noise in videos. Give it a Goodle and see what you find.

OK so took the phone in to Sandton drive I store. 7 - 10 working days. Because you know, who needs a phone. Right?

Is this how apple handle repairs in general, or is this only a South African thing. (Like waiting at a drive through)

It's a SA thing - take it into an Apple Store in the UK and they'll tend to it right away (although you may have to make an appointment to have it looked at).

It’s also an iStore thing.

Digicape would supply you with a temp phone if you asked.

OK;

Got my phone back today. It was replaced completely under warranty. what was interesting was that it didn't come in a box, it was just the phone in a shipping bag with the screen protectors.

So I wanted to test in store if the camera thing is sorted. So they put it on the wifi there, and it is sloooooooooow. "Oh" the guy says "our wifi is really slow. You are better of doing the update and restore at home"

So much for the premium experience hey.

Yeah, and then they openly advertise that people can come and do free system updates at the stores.
