iPhone 8 & iPhone X Thread

Interesting, Note8 v iPhone8+ speed test:

And I don't get the obsession with outright speed.

I suppose different devices cater to different people with different needs and tastes. It really is difficult to have a one-size-fits-all design these days.

That said, fast charging and a long battery life will trump CPU performance any day of the year for me. Unless the CPU runs like a one-legged dog, that is :D

Fast charging is awesome, so is wireless charging. It's not an obsession, it's just a very useful feature. I'm really battery paranoid.

Shouldn’t you then NOT be fast charging?

Or you mean paranoid as in scared of having it dead?

The biggest reason I want wireless charging is so I don’t have to struggle with the port in the dark.

I simply don’t understand this obsession with fast charging.

You aren’t the only one. I plug my phone in overnight, it can take all night for all I care.

I've found fast charging hugely beneficial.

Number of times I've forgotten to plug my phone in overnight. Can pop it in when I wake up and get a very decent amount of battery life in a small amount of time before heading out.

Yes, I didn't think fast charging was a big deal till I used Oneplus dash charging. It's brilliant!! Half an hour charge for a full days use.

I start hyperventilating if my phone battery goes below 40%. Wireless charging on the S7 Edge was useful while the phone was on my desk during the day as I'm working. I can just pick it up and go instead of mucking around with cables. It's very fiddly though; you have to get it placed JUUUUST RIGHT to pick up a charge, and I never used the fast charger but the original one was also quite slow. But that doesn't matter too much during the working day.

It's very disappointing that the fast charging kit is extra and not included in the box.

And does it work with any cover?

On the S7 Edge it worked with the cover I had. It's probably a factor though. I'd be all over that Apple multi-device charging pad if it doesn't cost a....well...let's be realistic, it will cost a fortune.

Yeah, I'll get excited about wireless charging when it's true inductive charging.

What you reckon that Apple charging pad is going to cost locally? My guess is around R2k...

Maybe I’m optimistic but I wouldn’t pay too far from a grand for that.

It’s nothing more than a dock in my mind.

Yeah, pretty much... but Apple..

If the fast charge adapter and cable comes in at $75,it will sell for around R1500 locally. I'm expecting that pad to be around $120, R2000-R2300 locally...
