iPhone 8 & iPhone X Thread

"Stale design"

It's funny how the mainstream tech press want companies to completely alter something that isn't broken. The 8 and 8 Plus are still great phones, but somehow people are told to skip them to buy into the iPhone X.

So In 2012 Porsche releases a 911 turbo and a 911 turbo S... usually the turbo S came at the end of the model cycle and it was a strange move on Porsches part. Guess what ... Very few 911 turbos sold as everyone chose the turbo S ... And the turbo is a fantastic car

So in the same way apple kinda screwed themselves . Many apple iPhone 8 and 8 plus would be's might bitch and moan about the x price but in the end they will pay that premium

And in the cases of both you have to ask if the X and Turbo S wouldn’t have been cheaper if the 8 and Turbo were skipped al together which is almost certainly true.

But because they exist a false inflated premium can be justified.

Same reason base model cars exist without aircons and electric windows so they can up sell the next model.

just as of last night apple.com/za
has got the new iphones there so obviously core and apple have come to an agreement whereby a order has been placed.

Absolutely. +1

I'm sure apple were not stupid and they did in fact reduce their sales expectations of the 8 as compared to last year's 7 ... And let's face it it's more a 7s than an 8

Anyone have an idea as to when the iPhone 8 and X will be available here?
Looking at November for the iphone 8, possibly end October and generally 1st into the Appe stores, and its distributers and resellers, then everybody else

The X should have been released either on its own, or released mid 2018, when you have had a decent amount of sales on the 8 and 8 plus

Its normally a month or 2 after the keynote and release in the US, unless there are delays.

Lol I'm aware man. Been an iPhoney man since 2009

The point is that as there are 3 models this time round, every Tim & Dick has a slightly different view on when all 3 models will hit SA.

I stand by my earlier standing still.

I said in my earlier post, that expect back end Oct or into November for the 8. X around January here.

We have not received any sort of pricing for the 8 from MTN or Vodacom yet, and that's generally because the Apple ZA stores, its authorised resellers get them 1st up, followed by the networks.

Nah that would have put Apple in danger of causing an out rage amongst their loyal customers.

The right move was to offer the choice.

Also for various reasons people might not want to do away with the home button. Especially the disabled community and such.

Not true, the networks own distribution of the iPhone in SA.

Don’t be surprised if the 8 launches Friday coming, latest the following Friday.

The networks own distribution of the iPhones? Okay

For sure. Core are supplied by telkom.
You said Networks ie MTN, Vodacom, Cell C,Telkom.. Generally the Apple stores world wide receive stock before any networks , followed by the authorised resellers then down to the networks.

We shall see what happens 1st few weeks of October, because as of now, non of the networks has released pricing to us, or indicated an ETA on stock

Yes, I did say that. The networks manage their supply directly with Apple. the iStore is not an Apple store owned by the brand, they are the country distributor for SA. They handle distribution for everything except the phone.
