iPhone 8 & iPhone X Thread

Me too, the 8 or the 8 Plus...

So where could you guys buy the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus? I'm interested to get the iPhone 8 Plus 256 in silver. I know there are options on cacell, bidorbuy, olx and thecellstore, but most of these options were insanely expensive. Probably because the phone has not been launched yet in SA and they are thus all selling imports. They were charging between R19850 and R20999 for the iPhone 8 Plus 256, but according to my calculations it will cost R16500 when launched in SA! Probably better to wait, pay less and get full warrentee through iStore? I really hope we see it launched on 13 October as the 7 launched on 14 Oct. Hope we don't have to wait for end of November!!

Thanks Dave, understood. Would be nice to hear everyone's views on my previous post regarding price an launch estimations...

Well done to them with their ****ty fake marketing worked on someone.

Sorry to break it to you mate but there is no official Apple presence in South Africa and every single one is a “fake” third part Apple reseller.

Which is why they are called iStores and not Apple Stores.

There is no Apple South Africa. There is only Core who is an authorised distributor operating on behalf of Apple in SA.

You meant to say, "There is only Core who is a badly-run, useless, slow and "we love to rip you off" distributor operating on behalf of Apple in SA and ruining Apple's name in the country.

Anyone here imported one of these phones? I see the iPhone 8+ listed on eBay for 13kish? Would you guys take that risk?

I see someone on the other forum selling an 8 plus 64gb for R15k. Thought initially expensive but then locally a 32gb iPhone 7 plus is retailing at the istore for R14k

I've bought iPhones on Amazon before. They were fine. You dont have local warranty support i think but they're reliable and i have no intention of getting it repaired at the useless Core Group stores anyway. I'de rather courier it back to Amazon.

Wasn’t that obvious? :)

As long as it’s a reputable seller and you make use of a proper courier it will be just fine.

Strange that SA launch would be a week later than last year when supposedly the 8 is in good supply whilst everyone waits for the X.

IPhone8 / iphone 8 plus non-issues

Yeah. Maybe they've hold back a bit until the crackling sound has been fixed. It is fixed in IOS 11.0.2 which has been released this week. And the splitgate is a non-issue, as it happened to 2 out of millions due to battery expansion. This is way lower than the acceptable failure rate of lithium ion batteries.
